Hi guys,
I have an 87 wr400 that I've been trying to get to run properly for awhile now with no luck... It'll rev cleanly and well when in neutral but as soon as I put it under load it just bogs and doesn't want to go, I did find a spot in the midrange in 3rd where it seemed to clear briefly, but, nothing else. I bought it and it had just been rebuilt apparently. I checked and cleaned the carb replacing all the jets and needle for brand new factory standard ones to ensure nothing was worn out. I've checked the inlet manifold and gaskets for leaks and have also checked the timing. The glue has come off a little it's sem but the magnets seem intact and it was about 5 degrees to the left on the degree markers so guessing retarded. It is now spot on. It starts easily and runs fine without load....
Has anyone got any further ideas on what it could be?
The coil looks new, but, will try and swap that out as have a spare. I tested the stator today and I could not get it to read on the multimeter but then my multimeter starts at 200 ohms, so, may be too high...just says one as standard for all wire connections. The oil seals seem to be the double lipped ones from hva so shouldn't be leaking as have the receipt fro them from the previous owner. Also thinking it would be hard to start if they were.
Apologies for the long post but any ideas....I still can't wait to ride her properly
Cheers Andy
