• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

86 CR/XC/WR front chain guide bracket

here is what the cap looks like on a chain guide
as you can see on the chain side no wear at allIMG_6817.jpgIMG_6818.jpg

here is the guide i am sending you, VERY worn, typical that someone did not keep up with the rub pad replacements
it is aluminum and has odd dimensions on the shape, you will be able to duplicate a new one after finding the correct stock material

could not explain except to say Husqvarna was obsessed with unsprung weight reduction as the only reason i can find
as in remove anything not really needed

the egged part may need plug welded but ive fixed a few that were rubbed through like that just by filling with weld then grinding level again. the ss cap looks good, i could see that working well. probably helps you dont run a sacked chain and keep your tension correct!

what's a sacked chain??

ah got it, chain has quite a few years but was a top of the line Regina so it holds up well
installed it about 12 years back and replaced the guide with a new one that i covered
by the way the cover would go right over a worn one and offer a flat hard surface, just wanted a new one to be sure

Changing the topic of my original post so I don't have to start another thread. Thanks for all the info aswell it's greatly appreciated.

Onto my new question. Has anyone ever cutt their stock silencer shorter and did it make a difference?

it will increase noise output, sometimes greatly depending on how short you go. if you lose the spark arrestor it will be much louder. cutting a silencer shorter is basically making the stinger shorter, usually makes for a loss in bottom, and a gain at the the top. its not a good move in my opinion, as these bikes are loud as it is..

I don't think my bike has a spark arrestor. I took it a part yesterday to change the packing and all that was in the canister was the packing and the core..... no spark arrestor.

yes, if you can see through your silencer you dont have an arrestor. bike will still get louder cutting it down. the power shift is pretty marginal

check out a place called dynoport, they make pipes for all liquid cooled swedes. great quality available in steel or ceramic coated. silencers in straight core or sparky models..they all look nice, i have one on my 360 but would like to add one to a swede or two. they offer a good bump in pipe volume and the silencers outflow stock quite a bit.
uptite husky is supposed to be retooling to reproduce some of their old husky pipes as well, but havent heard of them being done yet, they have no website anymore

I've heard of uptite threw this site but never been able to find a website.... now I know why haha. I will look into dynoport and see what I can find

dp does have a website and there are some pics of their systems floating around here. the one on my 360 fits perfect.
