• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Can anyone tell me the total length and width of the front chain guide? Looking to make one because my bike does not have one.

you are talking about the aluminum bracket that holds the upper and lower wheels? i can measure one in the garage if you like

9" long, 1 1/8" wide. if you ordered a new plastic slider for it that would help postion the lug

no problem, let me know if you need pics, i have a swinger off the bike with the part still attached.

the WR is different than the XC/CR in that the WR uses a chain cover on the top and the CR/XC does not so has an upper roller on the chain guide
are you using a chain guide, your avatar shows a WR style bike

Yes the bike is an enduro (wr). It does have the chain cover like you've mentioned but I've never been a fan of them and the one on the bike is worn out and I've never been able to find a new one so I'm going to make a CR/XC style chain guide.

i might have one laying around, all chewed up but a good template
no promises, might have pitched it

Ok well let me know if you have it or not. If not I'm just going to use the dimensions justintendo gave me and order a wear pad from husqvarna-parts

the rectangle on your swinger is a cut out on the wear pad, i believe its to keep the pad in position. otherwise only the roller wheels hold the pad in place. the aluminum bracket itself is flat if i remember right...the last 2 i had apart were 87-88 style, im pretty sure 85-86 is the same

i will take a pic when i get home
i used 18ga stainless, put it on and forget about it
yes the chain does touch it from time to time
weighs almost nothing, 12 years still going strong

FYI the large slot in the factory wear/rub guard is to allow the boss on the swingarm to go metal to metal with the guide so you can torque the fasteners
