• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Garage door opener, grip warmers and auxiliary lights...

C'mon, gimme a break - you can't possibly put grip warmers in the same category as garage door openers! Don't knock em till you've tried em - if your hands are warm you'll enjoy the ride much more, guaranteed. Or perhaps I'm just getting soft...

Russ; I have a feeling you don't exactly understand what we're talking about...:D

You see, the HDB system comes with a replacement top clamp that has many provisions for buttons, knobs, powerlets etc...
No need to fabricate anything, it's all there, you just need to figure out what you want to put there...:applause:

Woah wait a minute, you can bolt a Ram Mount on there? Want!

Which Ram Mount part do I need to do that? I already have a bar mount, but that would clean things up nicely.

just remember that your front brake line moves up and down with suspension movement and may hit the back of the gps

I spent about 30 mins trying to fathom the site to order a set for my te250 and got so confused I said, bugger it !

The website can be a bit difficult to navigate, but if you know primarily what you want, those of us who have ordered before should be able to help you place an order. Worst case, send Paul (HDB owner) an email and he can help you. You won't be sorry you did.

Very good point. Hadn't thought of that. I'm sure there's a work around. Longer cables maybe?

it would be a longer front hydro line but that would not solve it and potential make it dangerous..

From my planning, you need to position the GPS over or near the stock factory display to move it forward enough to avoid interference with the front brake line movement (dependant on the GPS of course).

I don't know if I'd want my GPS mounted where it blocks the gauges, anyway. I'll probably leave mine bar mounted as it is:

I still think there's a way to make the Ram on the top clamp work. Been looking at the new Garmin Montana 650t which would be perfect for this application.

If you look at Jtemples photo of where his GPS is mounted and then picture the front forks going down 10" and what will happem with the front brake line and speedo cable when they shoot up in the air and hit the back of the GPS.. or worse case scenario they move up and over the GPS and come down on top of it when the forks move back .. Of course the photo may show some illusions but you get my point.

Yep, I hear ya. I'm leaving mine over on the side like it is to avoid that, now that I think about it.

Just installed mine this morning, thought I would bounce my experience off you guys. First off, I really like the quality and functionality of these, I went with the medium height risers (2 1/8") but had some problems with installation. Seems like the socket head bolts Paul sent were slightly short and that's without any washers at all. Secondly, did anyone reinstall or leave out the cups that went on either side of the rubber bushings on the triple-clamp? I would have liked to however as I mentioned the bolt length wouldn't accommodate them.

Anyhow, the nut's on the underside of the triple-clamp are just shy of the nylock which makes me very nervous and after a short test ride I've found the steering seems a little on the sloppy side I believe because I left those cups off. Anyone have similar experiences or feedback I may be able to use?

Cheers,

Sounds like you just didnt get the right length bolts to accommodate the riser. I got std height and was able to install just as factory. Contact them and see whats up.

agree... I got standard height risers and the bolts I got were too long (made for mid riser) which required cutting.

Well, thanks for your feedback guys. I did call but haven't gotten called back yet so I went out and forked out $20 for a minimum purchase of new bolts that were an extra 10mm longer. I think that should do it.

Update...

In event that anyone else orders the medium risers, I ended up using 90mm long socket head bolts for the lower clamps instead of the supplied 80mm ones that were supplied. Installed with the bushing cups on both sides this time, the right side bolt cleared the steering lock by about 2mm and had a much better bite from the bolts. Good to go, looks great!

Now that I'm thinking about it, I may have had to cut the bolts that HDB gave me. I can't remember for sure, though.
