  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

530 big bore kit installed!

Well if a 510 (501cc) gets a 530 kit (532cc) then I would think a 450 (449cc) would be 480cc after the cylinder got milled. I have to admit I am tempted to do this when I go for a rebuild.

I think i may have to get this mod done as well. Id also like to know any of the specs from the RR cams compared to the smr cams. Anyone know what the difference in lift and duration is between the two?

Thread resurrection! :)

Does anyone have any HP/torque comparisons between the stock 510 and the 530 kit? I've looked everywhere and can't find anything other than butt dyno results.

I have a baseline dyno readings from my 450 ----> 530
HP is up by 5hp, and torque was up by a whole whopping 7ftlbs. The 2 dyno runs were about 4 months apart, and temp & humidity differed.
Where i noticed a difference was the FLAT torque. Power came on at around 4000rpm, and carried that to 8500. the 450 torque rise started at 6000.
Thats why people notice it more on the butt dyno.

I've got a question for you all and thought I would try to bring this thread back to life...

I've blown my smr 510 engine and am forced to replace the following regardless of which direction I go:

Cylinder (beyond repair)
Valves, springs, timing chain, valve guides, etc...
Intake camshaft must be replaced
Con rod
Piston

...and a few other things

Here is the question:
I want to do the 530 kit to gain some bottom end. Should I do the RR version? As far as I know this is just the 530 kit with stiffer intake springs, different spring caps, and RR intake cam. I don't really want to do ant porting if I don't have to. I don't want to lose any reliability. Is the RR cam going to work the engine much harder?

Lastly, this bike is used primarily for street. Maybe a Few races in the summer but not much. I am very unfamiliar with Husky's so don't be shy to point out the obvious.

Thanks

Romanousky, I sent you a PM on SMJ about this just now but it will be good to add here as well.

THe RR cam will be more harsh on the top end. According to Paul at GP cycles, it tends to wear the valve cups out. (The little retainers/keepers atop the spring that the clips sit inside of.)

I was very interested in, i finally got that 530cc kit.
What else than the head porting, what about the injector, cam shafts, valves or just the cylinder + exhaust pipes, pvc V???
Use to be mostly on the street.

And here is Results.
Yesterday I went to dyno.
-else stock Leovince front / y-pipe akrapovic + + pc = V 54.7hv 8083rpm/52.9Nm @ @ 6292rpm.
-530cckit + arrow-style piping pc + V + Killer = 54.4hv 7631rpm/53.8Nm @ @ 6208rpm, Killer break power top rpm drastically.
-Same as above, but not killer, no adjustment 56.3hv = @ @ 6117rpm 8008rpm/56.9Nm, very lean
So did not come power much to me, if you compare €+Hp is expensive, but the last dyno pull reading missing, where the bike was adjusted.
Power readings are on the engine.

can someone tell me 510 rod length- from pin to pin center ? hysky 06' . I want to make sure I order the right connecting rod

I measured the holes in a rod (with a caliper) and the holes top to bottom are 138.3mm and the holes bottom to top are 81.3mm the center to center should be in the middle. The rod kit I measured is a new OEM one I have left over from my 510 I sold. I would take a bit of a loss on it since I sold my bike. Motosportz Mike.

I'm rebuilding the engine of my 510 Sm, I was thinking about using a 530 kit, would it take a connecting rod special or original enough for the new power?

If you dont want to use special connecting rod, original enough.....I have bone stock engine, whit 530cc kit, no problem....
