  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

449/511: Help with flameout PLEASE!

Husqvarna
A Class
* Brand-new: Stock: flame out even at city signle lights. VERY BAD
* Stock with jumper: Race map II: flame out, 3/4 times in a 2 hour dirt ride. Quite Bad.
* Disconnected Charcoal Cannister and plugged lines. Unplugged O2 sensor.: still 3/4 times
* After FMF Powercore slip on: Flame out, 4/5 times on a 2 hour dirt ride. BAD!
* After adding FMF silent core insert: Flame out, 3/4 times in a 2 hour dirt ride: Quit Bad.
* After Zip-Ty flash to Race Map III: Flame out at least 4/5 times on a 2 hour ride.

WHAT THE HECK !!. Flame outs are dangerous and confidence killers, and I'm approaching the end of my rope here.
What do I try next?

What gearing(Sprockets) and how many miles on the ODO? The engine will be tight for the first 500 miles or so due to close tolerances.

Map 3 from Zip Ty. Bike will run awesome.

that was my last modification. still flaming out, worse than before. The power is noticeably better, but the flaming out is worse.

Gearing is stock (showroom... ?). Miles are less than 250. Is that the verdict? Wait till it loosens up?

Engine tightness is Likely your main issue but I gather you are flaming at low RPM's during tighter trails so dropping a tooth on the CS might be in order. Or go up on the rear.

Maybe an EFM autoclutch! Throw out the rear brake pedal and rear master cylinder if you wish and put the left master cylinder lever to work as the rear brake with a longer rear hose. I've seen it done and it's supposed to work pretty good. There won't be any "flame outs" or "stalling". There won't be any push starts either though, as it doesn't have a clutch lever override like a Rekluse is capable of having.

"signal lights"
Yes, I reset the Throttle Position Sensor.

I was having the same problem as you. TWICE I actually went over the bars due to a flameout just before a log hop.

I DO have the 3 maps - and they rock. That being said, two things happened when my flameouts vanished. 1) I got to around 400 miles on the bike and 2) I let the dealer reset the TPS.

Last ride was 6+ hours and not one flameout...even lugging it several times over rocks ledges.

FYI I am exact setup except I run the stock exhaust and my O2 is on but doesnt feedback on the Race Map II. Canister gone and blocked. Rest of bike is bone stock and flat out rips now.

Hanging idle/high idle for me = TPS needed reset. Look up threads on TPS reset and also on the air screw.

There's an idle adjust screw on left side of motor just above the FI. Big brass flathead. Counter clockwise will increase idle speed.
I feel your frustration as I went through the same ordeal. You're on a tight trail or steep hill and just when you need forward motion it flames out.
Never failed to do it at the worst possible moment. Caused too many get offs for me. It can also be very dangerous.
I know it's an expensive solution but the PCV cured the flame outs for me and my 511 is running perfect.

jerbear610: well, that might be the way I've got to go. I'm going to try a few suggestions that've been made, kick the idle up a touch, and run a few hundred more miles into it. I'll update as I go, but if the PCV is the cure, I'm sure I'll end up there soon.

Ya, I just checked my odometer and it reads 188k (still haven't figured out how to change it to MPH). If Google is correct, that's only 116 miles. I'm a bit impatient.
