    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

FE/FC 2014 Husky FC250 To Buy or Not To Buy?

My local Husky dealer has given me a pretty sweet price on a leftover 2014 FC250 that they have. I'm considering sending my 2012 TC250 down the road and replacing it with this. I liked my TC250, but a few costly mechanical failures and kick start only were its major draw backs. I am an A level rider, riding enduros and hare scrambles.

I was planning on going back to a 2T, but I can get into this FC for $2k less, so it has my attention. Any thoughts on the bike would be appreciated. Thank you.
 
Depends on what u are paying for it, there is one down in NJ very reasonable with a very nice extra. Love my FE.
 
I went from a 300 2s to a 350 and wish I had a 300 again quite a bit...nothing wrong with the 4s but I was faster on the 300 for sure due to how I ride. If ya dig how a 250 4s runs I'd say go for it, I had a 50hr valve check done and it needed nothing and I've had no failures in that time. Only thing is plan on kreft,MX tech, or Stillwell suspension = $750-$1500 extra cost!

I really like mine! I've never ridden a 2012 TC250 though, so I don't know how much different the FC250 will be?

E start and not having to rejet make this a good bike for me. I ride in temps that range from 0 degrees - 90 degrees F. The EFI sure is nice for that! Your current TC250 has efi too though...

If it were me, even though I really like my FC250 - I don't know that it will be a huge upgrade over your TC250. Having electric start is probably the biggest difference. Otherwise, for an A class rider in the woods, I doubt that either bike will be much different. Just my 2 cents.

No 4CS on '14 FC, so your bold doesn't apply. WP CC forks work pretty well, with minimum work.
 
Thanks for the input. They are offering some really nice deals right now on many of the leftover KTM and Husky models. Quite a few are $1000 off plus whatever your local dealer will discount.

E-start is a big deal for me. I swore I'd never buy another without it and then I picked up my TC250. Everytime I'd stall that bike, I'd kick myself for not getting a bike with e-start. I do wish that the FC came with a backup kicker though.
 
I was riding my FC250 with Trellys (HEAVY) tires in the snow. I'd kill it often, because a 250f just doesn't have the torque to turn those heavy studded tires at times. It always restarted ok. Even in gear. It didn't set the world on fire starting, but always did. When building this machine (that was designed for MX), I can't imagine they planned for it to be ridden in 0 degree temps, with heavy snow tires, by a rider with anger issues - but the bike did just fine.

This weekend I did my first valve adjustment. It's obvious that KTM (sorry Fletch) put a lot of thought into the machine. It is pretty easy to work on. While I was working on it, I also took all electrical connections apart and put silicone grease in them. The only bad thing that I've found so far is getting the side panel off to access the air cleaner is kind of a PIA in the cold. Dezus fasteners work better. No bike is perfect though.
 
If you can recoop some of the funds from your 12 husky why not? If I were to ride a four stroke efi or not I would have to have estart just because I suck at starting them!not sure how tall you are but all the KTM|huskys I have rode seem to be app two inches shorter then the late model Italian stuff. Which helps me in off cambers etc....I wish the Italians would have had a better approach to keeping with the Swedish colors etc...my bike looks tough and I do not look at it like a KTM...handling seems to be on par with and exlite chassis and the steel frame and plastic subframe allow nice flex for the woods....I have not heard much bad about the four stroke engine as far as durability.....its chapter three live it up!
 
I'm looking to pick up a spare set of wheels for my 2014 FC250. I see that they changed the front axle size in 2015. Do any of the KTM wheels also fit the FC? It would be nice to save a few bucks if I could pick up a nice used set off a KTM.
 
Rocky mountain sells the Tusk brand wheelsets for a good price. I have a set on my wr450f, and they've held up nicely for 2 years now. Just an option.

I can't remember how far back, but the KTM/Husaberg/Husky wheels all swap. All you need are the correct spacers, for the bike they are going on. My '12 Husaberg wheels go right on my '15 Husky. I have one extra set of Husaberg wheels, that I can use on either bike.

I have been looking at the Tusk wheel sets. I've read that they hold up pretty well. I'm not sold on the white hubs that they offer for the Husky wheels though, but its not a deal breaker.
