• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 GASGAS Two Strokes

Scot,

I am so glad they have a new US dist. They are great bikes that keep getting better and deserve to have more market share in NA.

I consider the new USA GG Dist to be a very close personal friend and he has told me that the pricing will be somewhere in between a Husky and a KTM for 2011.

There are some heavily discounted 2010 GG EC250/300s coming to Canada mid-August. I know I will be selling them for under $6500 CDN.[/QUOTE]

This is good advice. 2 of the 3 GGs in our garage were leftover models and they were much cheaper than current models. I really wanted a 2010 model since they lightened them up a bit, but they were too rich for me and I needed a bike badly and couldn't wait another year. I ended up with my leftover 2009 WR125/144 and couldn't be happier. A leftover GG might be in Eric's future, though...he loves `em!

I rode a 08 GG300 a lot, good friend I ride with a lot, I am sure you have seen picks. Motor is far from soft or beginner. Little more flywheel and did feel slower than my buddies 07 WR250 back to back but not slow by any margin.

I don't get it!?!? This doesn't seem like the bike for you. You don't like tight wooded trails and yet this machine was almost built specifically for that. You like MX tracks and this bike wasn't really intended for a track and the suspension might be a little soft. It's not a slam on you. I'm just curious why the hype for this machine. For my height and for riding technical trails and tight wooded areas...bingo.

If I sell my 09 TXC 510 this weekend I may be his first customer. I want the 300 Gas Gas!

David I am a MX/trail club owner/member with 100 acres of land and a 8.5 mile woods loop that I will be taking the Gas Gas 300 around. Some of the loop is tight and some I used my loader to open up to 7' wide. We will also be putting in a larger section around the property for more open riding. You are correct I don't like the face slapping bend your bike around the trees woods riding that some of the guys in our club like but those sections can be avoided. I am keeping my 08 Husky CR125/144 for the MX track we have. The TXC is a bit much for me in the woods and my fat butt needs more than the 125 for the way I ride in the woods. I am hoping the 300 will be the ticket. It's also lower and at 5' 8" going up and down hills and creek crossing it should make it a little easier.

The 2011 te/txc310 could be a nice choice also. But if you are like me, you like to change things around a little...then get the gas gas and have fun

Do yourself a favor and have Taskys ship that WR300 they have for $3500 to you. IMHO the GG is not worth more than the huskys but cost a lot more.

That sounds more like it...makes more sense and I'm sure the bike will be awesome. I can't wait to hear your review...get some video too!

Talk about a race to the bottom :banghead: Is that a $2500 discount for 35 miles? More? Doesn't say alot for the brand, despite what you may say about the product (and they are different).

For the record, the current GasGas line-up KILLS the 250 and 300 WRs in the showroom in terms of fit and finish, weight, and ergonomics. Husky is fortunate that they have BMW money to put on the fenders to help move the metal.

I just got back from an evening ride at McNutt/Blue Mountain (Pacific Northwest guys will know what that means:eek:)

I tried my buddies 2010 Gas Gas EC300 6 days bike. (He traded his '09 Husaberg FE450 for it. Great bike but TOO Heavy).

I've owned a Gas Gas EC 300 before (2004) and a Gas Gas trials bike so I'm familiar and a fan of the brand.

Bike turns outstanding, easily turns inside my Husky WR rails corners that I can't hold. Suspension needs work (Sachs both ends) easily as bad (harsh) as a stock Husky WR, probably worse on the rear:excuseme:. Ergos are cramped even for me at 5' 8" but this can be fixed with bar position and pegs. I like the lower seat height. Its not that the Husky is really an issue as your feet belong on the pegs not on the ground:thumbsup: Motor very Gas Gas like. Electric smooth. Clutch is spectacular feel and pull. Front end feels light well the whole bike does compared to my WR. Bike looks great. Fit and finish is much better than my '04 Gas Gas. If I was in the market for a new ride this would be a contender.

:busted:The above opinion is from a guy who sells GASGAS motorcycles and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of a Husqvarna dealer.
