  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE250 won't start

Hey guys! I picked up my bike used a few weeks ago. I put on about 90 miles, I stalled it in a corner and it will not start. I've read alot of posts about many issues and so far things seem to be fine...got spark, compression, fuel, and the flywheel checked out ok. I ordered a new temp. sensor because the fan would not come on, not sure if that would cause a start problem. I know I'm overlooking something, any advise will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Will

Does it e-crank over multiple revolutions and not start or does it not turn over at all?
Does the kickstart engage and turn the engine over?
It spins over fine with the e-start but with the kicker it sounds and feels like the starter motor is still engaged. The throttle body seems to pulsate as the engine is cranking.

Might check for the good old floating fuel pump problem. The fuel pumps can become dislodged from the housing inside the tank. Here's a nice thread describing the potential issue and how to fix it.

You might swap out your fuses too. I hear the factory ones can get hairline cracks.
Thanks Phoenix, the tank was better than half full when the bike died but I will take a look at the pump anyway. If I understand correctly, that was only an issue when the fuel was low. Oh and I changed the fuses and the spark plug when got it, just to be sure they were good.

Ok....I'm a dope... I freed up the starter gear that was stuck to the flywheel and when I took a closer look at the woodruff key I dicovered it was cracked. Runs great now! Classic over thinker:)
Thanks for the advice anyway.
