  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE250 Fail Code

Husqvarna
While riding this weekend I started getting a fail code on my dash. I'm not sure exactly when it started but I did have few falls although none of them were very hard. Now during start up the dash appears normal as it runs through the initializing showing E41E then SEL 1. Once I start the bike with the dash in RPM display it shows the tachometer for 2-3 seconds and then it shows FAIL and that stays on the dash until the next time I start the bike. It has not altered the performance of the bike but I would like to ensure it is not impacting the bike not to mention the constant "fail" on the dash is annoying. Some other details about the bike. It is all stock except for an upgraded 2012 TXC ECU and 12 port injector. The ECU and injector were installed about 100 miles ago. I have not reset the TPS yet however I have ridden it with the new parts for over 75 miles before the code ever appeared therefore I believe they are unrelated. I have read that it may be the "tilt sensor" although I cannot find that listed in any of the parts diagrams. It may be on the left side in the form of a resistor covered in plastic. If that is it it appears intact. If anyone has a test procedure for that I would appreciate it. Also I did check the fuses and all of them appear to be good. Thank you in advance for any suggestions / recommendations.

I have a 2010 TE 250 as well. As far as I know, the fail code comes up when it's reading which fuel mapping to use ... Once you remove the o2 sensor and plug the lambda sensor (comes with powerup kit for bike) then it switches to fuel mapping 2 (race mode / uncorked) automatically.

When I turn my bike on - it's uncorked (will have to double check) but FAIL comes up initially then cycles past. Shouldn't go back...

Since you said it gets to RPM/Tachometer then states fail, maybe there is a wiring loose from / to your Tachometer/Odometer device?

Do a search for your same issue and you should find some more answers, regarding tilt sensors or faulty wiring looms possibly

I have been unable to track down details on the site. I did find a connector with a resistor / diode on the left side of the bike near the airbox. The diode appeared to be connected on the backside of a connector that runs to the tailight. When I checked continuity I got none. Maybe that is my issue. If anyone has a TE that can check the connector that runs back to the tailight to see if their diode has any continuity it would be a big help. it is covered in clear plastic. I brought the bike to the dealer today to have them reset the TPS and wish I had taken a picture beforehand that I could have shared.

Well after some trial and error I found the issue today. I wanted to post in case someone ever has a similar issue and searches this thread for an answer. Ultimately the bypass for the o2 sensor was dirty and not making a strong connection. Pulled it apart, cleaned and reassembled and problem solved. Thanks to all of those who tried to assist. Much appreciated. Cheers.

Hello, I'm writing from Italy,
I have the same your problem about the fail code on the display.I did not understand if your o2 sensor is connected to the plug or not.
In my bike, the o2 sensor in not connected and 2 wires of 4 from the plug are linked together;
Maybe there is something wrong in my cables, could you explain to me how is your o2 sensor fixed?

I have 09 Smr 450 and have also seen this message a few times in the year I've owned my bike. So I'll give what was said about the dirty connection a try.

This is an old thread, but would appreciate if anyone can post a picture of the O2 bypass and where is it located on the bike, thanks
