  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2008 TE250 won't start!

Husqvarna
A Class
I rode it yesterday and washed and rode into the garage and turned it off and all was well.
This morning I geared up and put the key in turned it and had no led and no fuel pump primer noise!
All 5 fuses are good has charge and has gas...
Any ideas?
Here is what the wires look like...

Here is the no speedo!

Can anyone help? I just got this bike and it has been perfect so far maybe 5 rides on it...

Thanks!

Starter relay? Any of a number of things could be wet still. Mine wouldn't start after a wash once but several hours later was fine. Maybe take air or a hair dryer to it

IIRC there is a remote start on it too, near the battery that can be used. I would also try and jump it with a car battery....noneed to have car running.

I don't see a remote start. The fuel injection system make no noise and the hair dryer did't work. The battery is good.

YOu turned the key and have nothing/ Battery is good. I'd recheck/change the fuses (nothing working points to the ones by the battery), retry... if nothing, then I'd spray the ignition switch and right hand switch with WD40 or simular, and then spray compressed air into/at ignition switch to force water out/dry.

when you check fuses when something like this is going on- I'd replace them with new... then check the old ones with an ohm meter or just toss them.

that's a hell of a rats nest of wires- I know its alot of crap- but you can organize them and protect them a bit better than original with additional sheathing, many have reported shorting out on the head stock due to the friction and lack of protection. Probably unrelated to your problems now-

Remote starter

#8 on page 227 of the manual, under the saddle in front of the battery. Starter relay under there too to the side.

Quite a few people had bad fuses that were not detectable visually. Cheap fix if replacement makes it start

I see the remote start but how do I use it?

I replaced those 3 fuses but still nothing,

The previous owner left me with the mess of wires
I know he removed blinkers high/low headlight switch so
He terminated some things but I don't know where to start.

The bikes green on light and head and brake lights work.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread, but my manual doesn't have a page 227, can someone explain more on the remote start. I have 08 510. How does that work, jump a wire or something?

Pretty sure the "remote starter switch" is the "starter relay"- you don't do anything with it special. It acts as a relay does so you have a high amp wiring going to your starter- and low amp wires going to your right hand switch. Flip the one circuit closed (right hand switch) and it closes the other circuit (high amp power to starter). If you disconnect power to the starter- or have a weak battery that's the "click" you hear.
To test you:
(page 288 of 2009 Service Manual)
Electric start remote control switch check (TE-SMR-TXC)
Disconnect the starter relay coupling (A). Disconnect the cables from the positive
and negative poles of the battery to avoid short circuits during assembly.
Disconnect the cables of the starter motor and the positive cable of the battery
from the relay. Apply 12 volts to the terminals (1) and (2) of the relay and check
the continuity between terminals B-M.
Do not apply the battery voltage to the starter relay for more than five
seconds to avoid overheating and therefore damaging the winding. Using
a multi-tester, check that the winding is on open circuit or if a resistance is present.
The winding is in good condition if the value of the resistance revealed is as
indicated.
Multi-tester dial indication: Ohm
Starter relay resistance. Standard: 3 – 6 .

Did you replace the ones on the left only- change out the main on the right side in pic above.

They are the bigger ones which I don't have any of. I will stop by the auto parts store tomorrow at lunch and swap them out tomorrow after work.
I will post what happened.

Thanks for you help!

Don't go buying any fuel pump yet...there is an informative thread here somewhere on what and what not to buy, and also need to determine if it is the FP.

I wonder if there is a way to bypass that relay? Did your speedo turn on?
I jiggled the wires nothing....

I am not all in on the fuel pump yet.

You should be able to test the starter motor with direct battery power... Watched dealer pull one off and do this. Eventual culprit was battery that only had a surface charge. Hooked my spare battery up and it fired.

ETA are you seeing the diagnostic screen on the speedo ..E-141 (or something close) as power is turned on? The idea of checking FI pump for loose fitting or wire is a good possibility also. It would help explain no speedo info as bike does self-diagnosis cycle. Check for clogged filter while in there.

Hey Glangston, what is the E-141? I have seen that on my display when hitting the starter on a near dead battery.

It's normal, just a display that indicates the startup and Ok of the ECU. It should just display briefly, a few seconds.

It's like when you turn on the car key and all the warning lights show up and then go out in some sequence as they are tested and found working correctly, self diagnostics

ETA I would think iBeat would give you an error code(s) of some sort if you got it hooked up

Good deal, thanks. Hey you going to Mammoth in a couple days Glangston?

I checked all the blew with compressed air. I did see the cable running to the fuel pump and it was a bit beaten but cables looked good. The fuel pump makes no noise at all. My display is blank. I took my sons 4 amp off his ttr125le and the display lit up but only for a few seconds. My charger says it is charged but I wonder if it is really. I am going to take it to batteries plus tomorrow to test it.

In Mammoth right now finishing our condo re-model. Rode a few forest roads, maybe 100 miles or so. Coming back in a week with all my toys, ....kayaks, buggy bicycles and motorcycles.
