  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st 2 stroke throttle recall for Husky?

Mine is a 2013 WR125 !!! Got a message today from my local dealer sayin the part has gone onto factory backorder.

Without the "ridge" the cable can get hung up between the housing Wall and the lower lip of the white wheel. I have had 2 of my friends already have this happen to them. Get it fixed. The white wheel is also modified with a lip that meets the ridge.

This is the KTM recall info and thanks to Jeff Slavens from Slavens Racing for posting the picture to make it easy to see what the deal is.

MINE appears to be the good one. however my cable at the very end where it connects to th throttle tube has quite a kink in it. could be the cause of my troubles. could some one post pics of proper cable routing? thanks

Just checked mine, spewin, no ridge.
Good fun working on it though, this bike gives me a horn looking at it, working on it or riding it.

I've had one big over-rev problem on my bike. Figured out the cable was getting caught on the triple clamp when I turned the handlebars and pulling tight to open the throttle. I changed to a 2" longer cable so it can be routed as I want it without getting caught on anything and the problem went away. File this one under the "mis-routed cable" category.

Stuck throttle would be a good topic for a thread. How you responded, interesting and hopefully non injurious details of the experience etc.

I checked mine tonight and it has the so called defective housing. The ridge is needed but I think I may have fixed the cable snagging issue for the time being. It appears that there is possibly too much movement up and down in the white roller. I put a thin washer in between the top of the roller and the flanged brass bush to restrict vertical movement when the cable is being pulled.

Guys, this ain't a big deal.

I had my throttle stick open on my WR a few times when it was brand new. Turns out there was too much slack in the cable and it would "fall off" the white plastic roller when the throttle was fully closed.

Took some slack out, and a few hundred miles and many rides later it hasn't done it again.

Just adjust your throttle cables correctly and stop worrying!

i like to have just a little free play, a mm or 2. i think thats what happened to me. i took all the free play out. that can be a problem as well. when ur tired your hand can blip the throttle on its own. nice to have a little play

It IS a big deal if you have a faulty '13 throttle housing. The issue with your '12 might have worked but tightening the throttle cable on the faulty '13 Domino throttle will NOT keep the cable from getting past and under the wheel due to the lack of the ridge. Kinda scary advice given that people have already been injured seriously because of the faulty housing.

I installed my new housing last night. Its not just the housing that is different but also the the white roller and brass bush have been changed as well.
