• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1973 Husqvarna 250WR

Using my bar with a wheel I was able to get 95% of the dent out of the tank! I'm no Claude, but am satisfied that it will only take a very thin layer of mud and not the 3/8" that I removed!! I haven't been to storage yet but am remembering the wheels up there are on the rt hubs. Hoping for a miracle!! Chris

So I bought some new wheels from Italy as mine are Sun and I wanted Akronts. But they were for a 70 cr so the ad states and I must have missed it or thought I might get away with it. What is the diff between the 70 and 73 hubs?

Where did you get that number? My books show 1973 1516-009-01 front and 1516-600-01 rear. And I don't have 1970 400 parts list. Just laying the new rim on the old the holes do not point in the same direction lined up with the air nozzle even flipping the rim.

The 15 16 044-01 is the complete front hub - the 15 16 009-01 is the hub stripped - same hub though. Below are the pics from both the 70/71 and 73 parts books for the front hub. Same condition for the rear - 70/71 is the same as 73 = 15 16 600-01

So the wheels are for a 1970 400. I must have been drinking when I bought them. So I'm looking for a set of 1970 400 hubs! The frames for the 1973 250wr and 1972 450cr are off to blasting, I also sent the chopper frame so now I can blast al the small pieces.

Blasted the cylinder and head, head still needs some minor cleaning. Those small casting holes are a bear.

Still looking for a set of 1970 cr400 hubs for the wheels I bought. I have CASH!! I haven't got around to much else except painting the head and cylinder, bearings installed and crank installed in the left case. Chris

Chris, Have you tried posting on other vintage parts swapmeet sites? Maybe there are some vintage motorcycle shows and swapmeets coming up in your area this spring? I will keep my eyes open for you. Good luck my friend.

Well it's been a while since I have messed with this bike. I was waiting to make a couple of fork stops one for this and one for a 72 450. So I made the stop per the drawing in husky newsletter? don't remember the issue and then disfu.ked the one I pulled from the 73 250. I found that the one from the newsletter and the one from the 250 were much different and the one from the 73 250 matches some other bikes I have. The frames have been rusting in the shop and will need to be reshot before powder. I found out what the small triangles at the front of the foot pegs are for. They were to attach some early engine guards to the frame. I also got the trans in the 250 cases and am ready to close them up. I changed the output shaft with a 470 splined for the later output sprocket. And I think I have a later shift drum with the right side ratchet which is why it is not together yet, I need to search the archives. Here's some pics.

Got the motor together for the 3rd time! Got to take it apart the first time when I had a Brain Fart and remembered I had a 470 output shaft, so no more tapered output sprockets!!Then the center gasket is supposed to have a hole in the front of the crank well!! I thought I missed a broken bolt. I put the Short Rod with the High Top piston for a CR on the Crank! Then After thinking about it decided not to use the later shift drum with the right side ratchet. I figure the 6 speed drum with original WR 6speed trans would be cooler! I mean how many 6 speed drums without the right ratchet are there?. And if it pisses me off I'll change it!! The Clutch was in OK condition and the cover was Damaged. So I Blasted it and Spread some JB weld on the Damaged Areas, and will sand and prep it for paint in the morning! So more pics tomorrow!!

Got the Engine Mostly together today. Cleaned and de-rustified the ignition. The PO welded/brazed a bolt to the kick lever, so I defu.kified it. Just about ready for a bag and tag. Don't remember if it came with a carb, but I guess a Bing with the right jets and needle will work. Don't forget to check the gasket for HOLES!!
