Bad ass new Wrecking Crew: Mees, Smith and Baker. If you watched Santa Rosa's finals yesterday... The Indian in the dash for cash won with Joe Kopp who also took 7th in the final. Kaw to Indian... HD to Indian...
Hiring the top 3 flat track riders in the world is a good start. Did I mention that I would really like to own one of those bikes, I'll even settle for a street version. Tomorrow I will list a kidney for sale in craigslist
I've been really close to pulling the trigger on an xr Harley but I've been able to resist the street after watching people who text and drive wander around like drunks.
Isn't this swell... The #1 Plate now resides on an Indian At Willow Springs right now... Have to say seeing the cockpit and size of the bike, it would suit me just fine as an Adventure Bike. Indian and Polaris need to do as quick an engine dev. program for a smaller engine as they did with this 750 and market an American made Enduro. Heat races and more at Flat Track Live... https://www.facebook.com/FlatTrackLive/ Sunday: Heat race win, 2nd in Dash for cash, 3rd in the final
Meese and Indian get the cover and the win at Daytona's TT (Meese and Smith take 1 and 2). Nice interview with the head of the moto division. Indian will be in all segments soon... http://magazine.cyclenews.com/i/801507-cycle-news-2017-issue-11-march-21/74
Arizona Mile happening now... Just announced semi final w/Husqvarna 450 single competitor Jimmy McAlister from Bills. BTW Indian looking at another sweep... http://fanschoice.tv/watch-live/american-flat-track
Enjoyed watching Shayna Texter win again. Brad Baker a little bummed after winning the dash for cash and his heat, but Smith, Meese and Baker, cementing Indian's place nicely in the twins. I hope Polaris can get it's heat related issues behind it and Indian to offer a street version of the FTR and a smaller engine design for off road. https://www.facebook.com/AmericanFlatTrack/videos/1530071733693592/
I went to the Sacramento mile last night. Indian sweep the top 3. Huge gap to 4th! HD no where to be seen.
Wasn't 4th a Yamaha? Harley has to step it up, it seems they can't keep their new water cooled 750 together.
Springfield Mile at 10 am PDT http://www.fanschoice.tv/watch-live/american-flat-track Good looking Ducati Hypermoto #24 in there though trailing the field.
Shayna Texter wins the singles and Meese, Baker and Smith do the 1,2,3 for Indian Motorcycles at the Oklahoma Mile. View: https://youtu.be/98P6XS8Tk4I
I drove to OKC to watch that race and saying that Indian dominated the race is an understatement. There were 3 Indians in front and 4th place Sammy Halbert on a Yamaha was 3/4 of a lap behind. Also I think that no factory Harley riders made the main. I think a few privateers on Harleys made the main but I'm betting that the bosses at Harley are not too happy today.
After dumping Buell, it seems Harley has all but walked away from its race program. They were selling 10,000 V Rods a year, but shut down production last year. I guess they would rather have a high performance bagger with the new Milwaukee 8 motor and don't really care about much else.
They are going to have to decide what they are going to do with the new water cooled 750 they just came out with. They can't seem to keep them together and the old air cooled xr750 is finally being out performed by the Indians. Usually this kind of turnover is good for a sport because it makes the competition step it up. The OKC mile was a sell out and flat track seems to be gaining popularity so I would hope Harley doesn't just walk away.
NBC Sports will be broadcasting the entire series starting in July for those that missed it on the web.
