"...As for us, we’re already dreaming about a lightweight, liquid-cooled high-performance 750cc V-twin entering production at Indian’s Spirit Lake assembly line in time to be legal for the 2017 AMA flat-track season..." http://www.cycleworld.com/2015/08/0...otorcycle-75-years-of-sturgis/?src=SOC&dom=fb
"Whoa, Nellie!", "Wowie Kazowie!"... The ama godly-ones allow a non-japan-made bike to complete? Good luck to my American brothers with the live advertising of their product. I'll have to go see what flat-track racing is today ... Seems like this racing was HD dominated at one time and if so today, it's back to that story line again...
Check out the results another race to start watching on youtube http://amaproracing.com/ft/events/results.cfm
These old models make it crystal clear a motorcycle is a bicycle with an engine ... If you go back and read on the history of these bikes, you'll find Harley and these guys went at each other very hard on the tracks, wooden tracks at the very early stages, till Indian riders had some misfortunes ... Might be a little surprised at the speed and brakes also on those racer bikes about a century ago... Sort of like the Husqvarna heritage of so many yrs but Indians all but ~disappeared yrs before even I was born in comparison to Husky brand name that has ~never disappeared in all its yrs as far as I know.... -- Per that rules book: 3.2 Homologation of 4-stroke Single Cylinder Motorcycles a. Looking awesome in her new frame with new 109 hp engine http://www.cyclenews.com/2016/06/article/ama-pro-flat-track-indian-returns-ama-jared-mees/
I'm getting more interested in flat track by the week. It will be great to see 2 American bikes in the mix especially if Indian can mix it up in the top 5 which is Harley and Kaw dominated. J Mees is supposed to ride it and I've heard he has already been testing it.
Whenever I think of Flat Track I always think of On Any Sunday and all of the bikes that were raced way back when. Triumph, BSA, Harley Davidson....odd to see big bore Kawasaki's out there.
Yea it is odd but there are still Triumphs and now Ducati plus Yamaha and even Suzuki. The 650 Kaw Ninja bored to 750 is a pretty deadly combo except in the middle of loamy corners when the Harleys have more mid range torque. When the dirt gets a black groove in it like at the Springfield mile, the Kaw is the bike to beat.
That is one bad looking bike! I would ride the crap out of that any day. Or at least try to. haha. They had a bit of a tough roll out during Sturgis though. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dox6npxCu2g
Santa Rosa this month the racing begins... http://blog.motorcycle.com/2016/09/...e-racing-debut-santa-rosa-ama-pro-flat-track/
There was an Indian in the GNC2 line up at the Springfield Mile last weekend. I think it finished 2nd to last and I don't know who was riding it. I hope they are competitive in 2017, it will be a boost to the popularity of flat track racing. A street version of the Indian or the Harley would be awesome! I'd find a way to buy one if only to hooligan race it.
Hunter Edwards. Wonder if was using the new engine and similar frame. Supposed to be a debut at Santa Rosa with rider Joe Kopp ... http://www.amaproracing.com/flat-track/events/default/view/646/entry-list/BT http://www.amaproracing.com/flat-track/news/view/64702
