I use putoline chain wax it's a boil type I take the worst crud off with a old dish brush then remove chain put it in the tin simmering until my bikes clean.
Then I hang it up above the tin to drip excess back in the wax.
Re install on the bike good as new.
Contains graphite and leaves the chain dry and water free as that's boiled off and ready to roll next time you take the bike out.

Yeah a bit of faff but works better than sprays and attracts no dirt.

Bel_Ray Super Clean is as good as I've used and after 10 years of use, I special order it if not available locally. My 310 chain never needs adjusting and simple brush off with wash water and a few minutes later, apply... on both Ducs as well. No wonder the Husky crew have Bel Ray as sponsors. Penetrates and covers right away, then dries to a tack free coating. I have packs and clothes with chain lube spots from the 70's as memories or PJ1, etc...

When I was a kid my racing bud and his dad mixed up a bucket of paraffin and some special oil for our chains. Heated up a big metal tub of water on a propane burner outside, put the bucket of wax in the tub, dropped the chains in the wax for a while, hang to dry, ride, repeat. I've been using o-ring chain off road since '90! and the only noticeable difference is maintenance. I simply spray it down with heavy duty silicone after a ride and soak and scrub it in B100 bio-diesel overnight about once a month. The oem chain from my '12 wr300 is still in good shape, so works for me

On my new sprockets and chain application (O Ring Chains) I lube the friction between the sprocket teeth and chain rollers were most of the wear takes place with a TS-70 moly paste or moly anti -seeze. Then the side plates get lubed with a chain lube from the side. On non o ring chains I soak them with a chain lube.

Never seen that chain wax in a can before you heat it and soak it?

It's made by putoline, it works very well on non o ringed chains. Especially after you wash the bike as the water gets evaporated.. no rust.
Bit of a faff but doesn't take long really.

Agree with Johnrg- Bel-Ray Super Clean is great stuff. Their logo & stickers remind me of the fun I had as a kid / 1978 RM.
