Hey guys... Just got a used '08 SM610ie last 2 weeks with milege just over 40k km. I'd thought the motor would be great for the road compared to my 510centennial as it cruise smoothly and with the help of the 6th gear...so swapping over parts slowly for both bikes. Next is to switch the triple clamps and 50mm fork and dirtwheels off the centennial..then wire the lights, rear cargo rack, dashboards, etc. Anyone selling the safari tank for this ie model?and i did saw there is somehow a mainstand mount..what mai stand can I use? Cheers
I went the cheaper way. I tried to swap the suspension / wheels , etc from my TXC , but ran into issues. A cheap set of Shinkos did the trick!
I havent got to go with the swapping of the TE wheels over. But managed to bend the rack from CRF250L to fit the Husky. About the wheels...I am going for 21/18 for more serious offroading....but....if can't fit the TE wheels....i will just switch the front to 19....so it will be more of an adv set up with 19/17.
Yea, i was thinking about relacing the front hub to a 19". would definitively be a better adv bike that way
There's one 19' excel rims setup by Talon on Husky-parts ebay...but it would be around usd $400 to ship to me....
That is what I did to mine. I laced a 19" front rim on and run TKC-80s. Be advised you will have to file down the back side of the front caliper to provide clearance for the spokes...no biggie but it hit's otherwise.
I've decided to swap wheels with my centennial as my mechanic friend said it would be a direct swap...but not sure If i would swap the 50mm fork n triples over as well... Anyways..still didnt get the chance with the wheels yet...but did some progress today on the headlight wirings, rack, relocation of the meter to the fairing's frame. Looking for Rox Riser so I can tilt the handlebar abit forward, bashplate, and have asked a friend to help to do carbonfibre shrouds and custom to inline with the fairings.
My bike came with a cheapo Trail Tech Endurance II and I have never seen the OEM so I wasn't sure. Looks good.
Yeah it really looks good...but not sure speedo on italian bikes can last...my centenial speedo toast... Talking about speedo....I am about to change the wheels to offroad setup...will it affect the speedo readings?
Oh swell....i love the stock meter...it looks great and has all the user friendly functions... Am not ready to switch to Vapor yet....although I have 1 spare laying aroung from my previous ride.
As you have for sure noticed, our speedo has only one button. If, when it's off, you press the button and hold it pressed for some seconds (5-10 seconds) and then you release it after having turned the key, you will enter the setting mode. You can set miscellaneus things, like mph or kmph as speed unit of measurement, or how many km or hours from now the maintenance symbol will appear. I enter that mode when I want to reset the symbol. IIRC, the first setting you can modify is the dimension of the wheel; you cannot write a value like kitcat did on his TE300, but you can choose the 0001 code for the sm (17") or the 0002 code for the te (21"). There are some topics on the subject, like these: http://supermotojunkie.com/showthread.php?104819-Programming-2008-610-Display-Need-Help http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/speedo-change-te-to-sm.3226/ But the problem is that, in the workshop manual, there are explanations written for the old speedo, the one you can find on a 2006 model, for instance, whose background light is not blue, but amber. Those explanations don't hold good completely for our speedos.
Thanks for the great info... I've done wheel setting on the Vapor..haven't donr anythg on the oem meter except for clock setting and reset speedo...lol Anyways I managed to squeezed time between work and swapping the complete fork, triples and wheels for the front end... But somehow I don't seem to be happy with the outlook...perhaps the front fender?or perhaps the rear wheel makes it looks retared? Maybe I will try swap the rear wheel then I will decide to keep it with the offroad wheels or just thr sumo wheels but with a more dual tyres.
