• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

610 owners: How many miles did your cam chain last - and what year is your bike?

I am curious. How many miles did your cam chain last, and what year/model is your 610? e.g. 2007 SM610.

I've talked to a few owners and it seems some model years last longer than others.

edit: I bolded some words.

I have a 09 610 te and just done the 15,000km service myself --Cam chain tensioner is now only 4 clicks out.

A friend of mine has a 06 610te and at 10,000km he has had to replace his cam chain -- ?

The original setting was 4 clicks out when new. At 5500 miles it's still 4 clicks out. The bike was broke in with a easy method then after the first 10 hrs of riding has been riden like I stole it. Oil and filter changed several times during the break in procedure then once a 3500 miles. Will change the oil again @ 6000. Always used AGIP 10w60. 2006 model year.

2007 TE610, replaced at 6K miles, 11 clicks, rubbing reed valve cover. Now at 11,500miles and the replacement is only 5 clicks out. I also took 1/4" off the spring.

2003 te610e. 2000 miles.

Only replaced the cam chain because the cam shaft broke. one of the screw holes broke into a couple pieces which dropped down into the engine and into the stator and bounced around like ball bearings in a blender and ruined that $400 part, too.

Pricey failure, but it's been running great since!

i have a husky te610 1998 left hand kick ive heard of probs with the cam chains and adjusters is this true

Some people have had issues and some of us haven't. It seems to be a hit and miss problem.

`07 SM610

10 clicks out at 2800 miles.
Still 10 clicks out and chain didn't look too stretched out when I replaced it at 3470 miles.
New CCT was at 4 clicks after the first ride, and is at 6 clicks now at 8600 miles. Much better wear :)

When the bike was new, did you ride the 2800 miles at low RPM, what speed to change over to 6th gear?

Some of it was semi-low rpm in the dirt, but a lot of it was bouncing off the rev limiter on asphalt :excuseme:

Still on original chain
9670KM
9clicks
10,000Km dealer service done no sign of wear, will monitor.
Had bike since new and major services through R+D Husky only place I will take it.
Oil + filters @ 1,000km intervals.

Hammered from day one

When I put the MCCA adjuster on my 08, I was at 6 clicks depending how I counted at 3400mi. Now at 6000mi with the MCCA and I've adjusted not quite a click.

Sounds like the replacements are holding up better, a very good thing.
