Well after an hour soaking in PB Blaster, the nut came loose. It was left hand thread.

Unfortunately my flywheel puller is the wrong thread (I had a puller for Hondas I thought may work, but it has a finer thread).

Looks like another delay, until I can get the correct puller.

I do notice a light scratching/scraping sound, coming from behind the flywheel, when I turn it by hand. I did not notice this sound a couple weeks ago, when I adjusted the manual decompressor cable...

    Super165,

Keep us posted, when you get the puller, and pics please.

    Thank you George,

I was sure it was a l/h, but wanted someone to confirm it.

    :)

Can someone confirm the correct flywheel puller needed for the Ducati flywheel? I did some research online, and it seemed that a 28 x 1.5 RH puller was the one needed. I ordered one from Heartland Products, but it only wants to thread into the flywheel, maybe 1 thread deep. I have tried cleaning the corrosion from the threads, but have not been able to get anywhere just yet.

Is 28 x 1.5 RH correct? I just want to confirm - before I start using much force to thread it in.

I have the same one but have not used it yet, so I hope it is right.

I did an internet search but could not find a definite answer.

    Hi,

Michel Dufayard, in the Vintage/Left hand kicker forum,

    said it is 28 x 1.5

Don't forget the nut is a left hand thread, but the puller is a right hand thread.

I tried using a little force, but it seems to be ruining the threads on the puller. The threads on my flywheel were not damaged luckily. I may try a different brand puller.

    Hi,

The part number on my puller is MP #45.

The outside of the threads measures 28mm.

After running out of ideas, I finally just ran the puller into the flywheel with an impact. My guess is the puller is just slightly too large. The threads in the flywheel are good. Anyways, got the flywheel off and the magnet ring was protruding from the flywheel by maybe 1/8 - 1/16". So the magnets have definitely came dislodged. When I sat the flywheel down, the magnets slid back in before I could snap a pic. IMG_1268.JPG

Looking at that I am surprised you ever got it running to start with.

The thing with corrosion it builds up, so it would reduce the clearance, making the puller tight in the

    threads.

I had to do the same thing when I got mine, but I paid someone to repair it.

Turned out it would have been cheaper for me to buy a completely new stator plate and flywheel.

Should of got a quote first, instead of just handing the bike to him.

Oh well, you live and learn.

I just checked that part number, • 800077391

According to my parts list that is correct number for the Ducati ignition.

    I was looking at HPI:
    http://www.hpi.be/applist.php?brand=Husqvarna&cat=

Same part # 's as the Electrexworld stuff.

I will order one of their flywheels this week and go from there. Of course, the magnet ring in my stock flywheel is loose, but doesn't want to come out any more than in the above pic...

But if one of these aftermarket flywheels does the job, I will be happy to finally have this thing running.
