    Dave,
I would be interested in seeing your way of protecting the cases from the clutch spings.

    Jim:
I think my current project 430 had one, let me check. Michel seems like he has some good models. The broken springs I've had seem to break at the ends. So, a full cover might be better to hold the spring in place. I've only seen them break for 1st gear, not 2nd or 3rd. Although I suppose that's possible.

NOS springs from Husky were color coded for different spring rates so I think you can mix up the combinations, to change shift points.
    Thanks.
    Dave

About oil, Univis HVI 26 like a lot of riders.
    About 1st clutch spring cover.
The full cover keeps the big broken spring part but the little
part still goes in the motor.
So I glued on the crankcases a big magnet to catch the little part.

I love it, loads of power, good suspension and a brake that works, the only bit that scares me is how I am going to keep it running with the difficulty in sourcing spares.

    These are good

Just google or ebay search for 'oil cooler' or 'transmission oil cooler' or 'pit bike oil cooler'
Theres heaps out there. Lockhart were good ones from that period.
A lot of automotive performance shops will sell them as well as specialist hydraulic/cooling places.

Earls and K&N etc make specialist in line oil filters to protect the pumps. Again, not impossible to find.

    Jim,
Did you ever finish restoring this 430 AE?

I'm about to buy a 86 430 AE, so I'm researching all the old Auto threads.

Would be interested to see how your bike turned out. Maybe it's in another thread I missed?
    Thanks.

Finding NOS drums, shoes and springs is good, you have all the important wear parts.

The bikes take constant attention don't they? Always something to work on.
