I's seems I've been down this road before. Just got this 430 from the original owner and like last time, it's a mess. Primary clutchs gone, second gear and third gear shoes matted over grooves and broken springs. I hope to think that by now I would of learned.:banghead: I'm having a littlte buyer's remorse, but I always try to look at the glass as half full. It's complete and all original except for the rear fender. Picture 436.jpg Picture 437.jpg Picture 443.jpg

It would appear by the galled primary shoes that the wrong oil may have been used.
The second/third gear drum appears to have minimal wear. I'm hoping I will be able to clean up the 2nd/3rd gear shoes. The sprag bearings appear to be good but haven't taken them out to visually inspect them yet.

Ya, I got even more surprises as I was taking the rest of the bike apart. Luckily I didn't sell you all my spares last time around. I've got a complete spare motor that's good with new piston/ring, all new primarys, new 2nd/3rd gear drum and spings.I plan on riding my last build alot this fall when it cools off. I would like to get one of your primary spring covers?

Are you talking to me about the springs cover ?
I made them now out of 1 mm inox and 3 screws ( with loctite) to keep the cover locked.
The holes in aluminium tend to be ovalised.
But the cover is grinding a little the springs.
Next evolution ? Holes in the cover to let move the springs or plastic cover ?

I have the grey bottle as well on my bike, I assumed it was some sort of expansion collection device?

The original owner said, when he first bought the bike it would over heat. He took it back to the dealer and they installed the lager radiator and it never over heated again.
The grey bottle is an overflow bottle, just like on a car. Both of my autos have them.

About the springs cover hold by the crank nut , I bought it with the motor.
I think you need a press to twist the steel sheet.
The other is a copy I made from these made by Fabrice.
The last is made from the copy of Fabrice. I tried to let move the little springs ( pawls springs).
