Binx ..... just grab the UPS guy and give him a six pack of beer ..... on the understanding that he puts all the packages in the shed out of sight !
Or just have them shipped to work or a neighbour like I did ;)

Ha! If the need arises I'll just have the wife contact you guys directly regarding the frequent appearances of the UPS truck.

Max - two more THUMBS UP on the forks!

What did you use to polish the triples and lowers?

What did you use for the clearcoat on the forks? What paint on the pipe? Engine?

I've got no heat in my shed so can only stay comfortable out there for another 4-5 weeks. Want to get the cases split and have a look at my busted tranny before winter shuts me down. Then I can hunt down the parts over the winter. Only source for NOS gears I've seen so far is in the UK.

Keep plugging along, It'll be worth it. I'm in the same boat with the 74 175 I just picked up. It seems like no matter what you start with you are going to have $3000 in a vintage bike to get them really ready to race or ride.

I have one thing in my favor on the 74, it was going to be for the wife to ride.

New pics of the 175. I figured out how to lace the rear wheel and got it trued at Fletcher's. New tire and tube complete this item. Front wheel spokes and clean up on the calendar. DSC_0050r.jpg

Thanks for the compliment ! I am also looking forward to completion... might be pretty soon ! Got fenders and am working on getting them mounted. The only big issue now is the tank...

Looks great! One thing... by memory and after checking the picture in the 1976 sales brochure, the front brake drum goes on the left side of the bike... that will help with some of the excess cable.

I've seen pics of the brake hub as it is now and also reversed. I plan to rebuild the front wheel soon and will reassemble with the backing plate on the left, as it does make more sense as well as looks right ...

    Hi Binx,

The engines are pretty straightforward to work on and the manuals available. I have 125 manuals if you need some pages emailing.
I had a similar problem, broken tooth, when I bought one of my bikes, I bought replacement part of ebay. I also bought a used case splitting tool, but they can be made. I make my own gaskets up using correct paper and replaced some seals. It's all part of the challenge you have set yourself. Be patient and don't lever the cases with a screwdriver.

Newest pic of the 175. Am almost done stripping the tank. Internal cleanup is next. As soon as I have a clean (internally) tank I plan to try to start it up. Spokes and front wheel restoration will be next on the list.

I haven't done much lately but am now cleaning / derusting the tank (inside). Had a bunch of white gunk inside, not sure if it was OLD and wet castor gum or tank liner. Enough of it was off of the insides to show some rust. Got a gallon of acetone and filled the tank and added nuts n bolts to loosen up what I could. Took several sessions but got it cleaned out pretty well. I decided to use electrolysis to derust. These pics show my setup and gunk that came out of the tank. tank resto 1.jpg tank resto 2.jpg gunk 1.jpg

Today was a big day for the 175 Cross Country. I actually got her started and rode around the back yard ! First time I have ridden a Husky in 20 years or so ... wasn't able to do much but it did run and rode ok.

The latest pics (taken today) View attachment 67895 of my 175 project. I just need to add the white line around the chrome panel, add Husqvarna logo decals and clear coat and the tank is done. Now I need to respoke the front wheel, then clean up some little bugs and this beauty is done .... Oh also need number plate mounts, I have number plates.
