  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi, my name is Francis, im from Quebec, Canada.
HI have just buy a new Husky WR300 2010.
I will receive it in a few day !!!

What i want to know is what is the top speed of this bike in stock form.
My last bike was a KTM 525 exc with 6 speeds and i want to know if the WR300 can make some long ride at high speed (70-80 mph)...
Im not planning to run like this all the time (i prefer single track, tight stuff), but sometime i will run with some friends on open gravel road.

Hi Francis,

Welcome to the club. You are going to love your husky. Mine is awesome.

That said, I don't think you are going to love it at 70 or 80 mph, at least with stock gearing.

This bike rocks on the trails and the nasty stuff and is quickly out of its element on the roads. Maybe I'm wrong and could push my bike harder but it doesn't take me too long on an open road for me to realize that the bike is not where its supposed to be.

Maybe there are some 2 stroke racers (I'm certainly not one) out there with different opinions...
 
The 5 speed cr transmission is the real stumbling block to dual sporting the WR 250/300. Gearing it up to be able to cruise at 70 mph comfortably will leave you struggling a little in technical stuff. I put a 6 speed in my WR 250 and it made it far more doable to be able to cruise 65 on the road comfortably and still have a bike that is great in the technical stuff. There are quite a few threads on the subject if you are interested. The 300 will vibrate but will be more amenable to just gearing up.

I changed to a 14t front sprocket.
I like how it spread the gears out a little more.
With that though, on the interstate when I take it to work :eek: I don't feel comfortable holding it a crusing speeds 60-65 mph.
I'll crack it open for a little bit then pull in the clutch, coast then do it again.
It does pull the 14t no problem in the woods, I actually prefer it.
But still wish I had a sixth gear.
You may want to see if a 15t will fit.

In my mind, WR is for wide ratio... i feel a little bad this morning because i dont like enduro bike with short gearing and i realise now that i just buy a brand new bike with that... The dealer tell me that this bike can go 80 +++ mph no trouble, just like a KTM XC-W. :thumbsdown:

My freinds with is 300 XC-W top out at just over 100 mph and can do all tight track at slow speed with ease. I think i have made the wrong choice.:banghead:

Rest easy!
That bike can pull a 15 tooth in the woods-really smooths out the hit and you can go REALLY fast on the road
I still have a older wr 250 6 speed it is better for this but you likely will be happy
 
I will try different gearing when i receive the bike.
Also, i have read many thing yesturday about the carb trouble. I can have a brand new PWK 38 for cheap, does the WR300 really need it ?

Also, is it true that the 09 WR300 is more powerfull than the 2010 ?
