  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc WR300 too much bike

You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the input. I'm hoping he will get logged on here, I feel once he gets a better understanding of his bike and his current abilities that he can tone it down some until he gets more experience and then start to open it up.

If you are 160lbs, it matters. A lot.

I can kick 250 while my other foot is on the ground. 300, I need to jump on the kicker or be on foot pegs.

I'm just under 160, must be I the bicycle racing I did in another life but never had an issue kicking ether one.

My advice talk to Halls or a reputable Husqvarna dealer. They can stear u in the right direction. I think you can make the carb work. Halls does not change them nor have I EVER! So long as kickstarting the beast is not and issue!! That 300 can be a smooth mellow machine when you want and a beast when you want with proper minor mods!!!

Ha. Do not let Mantrap full you. I have seen him stall and take ALOT more then one kick to relight! His 300 works very well for him with the recluse auto. I myself dislike the autos very very much and want the clutch. I always ran a motion pro terminator clutch cable and lengthened the clutch arm I believe 3/16's of and inch. Bingo. 1 finger clutch and will still start in gear and not stall either!

Gotcha!!!

I can start my 300 with one kick when its hot. but I have to balance the bike, jump up and put my weight in to the kicker. no way i can do it with my other foot on the ground.. short legs..

also, with rekluse, i can't start the bike when it's in gear. must find neutral before kicking.

I have no problems starting my 300. I'm 6' at 175lbs. 90% of the time first kick once warm, 2-3 kicks cold.
I found that lowering the stock footpegs to get a little longer stroke on the kicker was the key.

Yep like any Husky 2 stroke 250 or 300 you MUST and I mean MUST kick the bike like a man with authority and it will typically light right up!! If you kick it like a wuss or r not at the top it may take several stabs to go. At one point in life I was so used to that kickstarter that other bikes felt funny not mine!

That's funny , I tell all my friends who ride my 300 that they need to give it a big boy kick. The first kick they always kick it like a girl then they understand what I mean and they give her hell the second kick and it always starts right up!

But back to topic, can the 300 be a smooth mellow ride with the right stuff added, yes. Can the cost of that be close to doing a 250 kit, maybe. Its to bad the guy bought it before the rebate as I'd say forget the four stroke and go for a 165 but that's not solving the guys problem either I guess. I'm sure it hurts the guy to dump even more money into a bike he feels upside down on as well. As said in another post maybe someone will do a trade, that's sounds like the best option to me anyway.

Oh come on Fletch with the Rekluse that bike never stalled, the only times I'd have to restart the thing is when you'd wad up that gasgas and I'd have to wait for you to get it back on the trail!!

I have a 12 300 also, with port work, head is cut, and a rekluse. I have no issues at all with being "too much bike". I came off of a 250 4 stroke so it took some getting used to but I love the way the rekluse "robs" power as people claim. It smooths out that snappy feeling when being a little too eager on the throttle. He could also learn to ride a gear high, simple fix for $0!

Could try it with a too rich mainjet- maybe two steps up- definitely would eliminate the 'hit but still run on the bottom and middle; actually had this condition once years ago, bike lost the revout- upon inspection found the main jet in the bottom of the float bowel.
