  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm looking to get my first husky. I haven't been on a bike in 10 years. My son just started riding and I just can't take it anymore I need to ride.I want to stay street legal so my choices are the WR300 or TE450.

I guess it depends on terrain and distance between fuel stops. And what you prefer... 2 or 4.. :)

For sure.

I dislike 4 strokes for anything but motocross and since I'm no motocrosser it's an easy decision for me. To each his own though.

Whatever you do.... ride them both before you commit. I'm sure there's folks in your area who can arrange a test ride on similar machines.

Thanks for the replies. The woods here in jersey are tight and muddy with sand mixed in.Fuel stops aren't a problem 30 to 40 miles.I'm not a motocross rider either. My last bike was a 2000 RM 250. I did race that bike. I was alot faster on it than the 1997 XR400 that I had. I really haven't had a chance to ride a new fi 4 stroke

I finally joined this forum just so I could respond to your post. I have been lurking here for a while and all I can say is that this site is great for Husky info.

Anyway, I have an 09 WR300 and live in Barnegat. You are more than welcome to give mine a try. I decided to get the WR300 over the TE for the ease of maintenance, the cost - there are some great deals on 2009 bikes, some weight savings and plus I just love two strokes - always rode them as a kid. This thing has a ton of power and is simple to work on. I was sold.

mkenn72, Do you have the bike tagged up? Are you going the hare scramble in eagleswood twp.? My son is racing so I wll be up that way.

It is tagged. I was thinking about going to eagleswood but was not sure what to expect for the track and I do not know anyone riding in it to give me some info. Right now I am still trying to get the suspension set-up so I was going to pass on the harescramble. Will you be there on Saturday or just Sunday? I have tentative plans to ride elsewhere on Sunday morning but I am sure we can meet up sometime after that. I live about ten to fifteen minutes from eagleswood.

In NJ the WR is on the approved list to be registered. Now in NJ motorcycles are self inspected.

I take back all of the bad stuff I said about NJ :)

These are 2 completely different bikes ... You really need to ride both...ESP that 4t .... It will definitely feel different than the 300 ... It can purr like a little honda on the hardtop and do alright in the dirt also ...

The cost and maintenance thing is big unless you have a fat wallet ... My TXC is sitting on over 200 hrs without any issues but about 90% of everyone here would probably overhaul a bike like this ... You start riding that bike everyday, you're gonna pile on the miles and hrs ....
