  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc WR300 Headlight and ignition issues?

I've read some instances on a couple different forums of the ignition going bad while using the lights. I want to install my lights but I don't need them that bad if it will fry my ignition. I can't find anything definitive and I asked the dealer where I bought it and they know nothing about it. Any input would be appreciated.

my husky dealer would never admit any probs with husky's in australia.many dealings with them & importer made that clear.

I have had zero problems with lights on an 09 300. I like having lights and just upgraded to the Polisport HMX dual LED light. Its about $100, waaaaaay brighter than the stock light, you could actually get home safely if stuck in dark, or ride in dark with it on singletrack. Best part, since LED, hardly draws any power and no oscillation with different RPMs. They are always on and not an issue. Except for a did fry one light once because my regulator got disconnected somehow when I crashed. BUT, I crash a lot, so whatchagonnado?? Pics attached. I have since rattle canned the chrome piece under light to be flat black. (first pic) View attachment 24031 View attachment 24029View attachment 24030

This light, since it hardly draws any power even though really bright, might be an easy way to run a better than stock light and not worry about your ignition.

Hey there,

Interesting in what you think of this headlight. I recently had my brother break the mounts on my stock one (grr!), so need to look for a replacement.
How do you find the fitment? I don't really want to stray too far away from OEM, and still need to keep the indicator setup also.

Thanks,
Tim

Sorry for the delay. The Polisport dual LED light is a great light. It is definitely bright enough to get you back home if you get stuck out in the dark, and it doesn't oscillate with the revs. It gives it an updated look to, in my opinion. I would buy another one without a hesitation.

With the headlight on the thing is a so and so to start. If I kick it more than 2/3 times I check the headlight turn it off and bingo. when it is running no probs.

No worries mate. I ended up getting an OEM shroud from the dealer for a pretty good price in the end. I realised with an aftermarket I'd lose the mounts for the indicators so ended up staying OEM.

Never had that issue. Mine is an 09. I think that is an earlier model issue.
