  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc WR250 Subframe is Junk!!

Well i just lost my muffler(09 wr250) half way through a four hour 2 man cross country race. Funny thing is my lap times went down from 26 minutes to 25 minutes. lost a little low end snap though. My muffler was recovered and thankfully no one had run over it, it was still bolted to the sheared off mounts.
Did the last lap on a ktm 200exc , it was light, turned quick, great ergos, lovely clutch, small, a lot less power, but smooth, very smooth. I didn't realize the husky vibrated so much, would this contribute to the alloy fatigue? 27 minute lap on the ktm. My partner an I took the series in the over 100 combined age class.
As a side note Chris Birch(google him) rode a ktm 1190 adveture bike and was doing 23 minute laps, the fastest lap by anyone was 21 minutes.

My 2010 Wr 300 was a ex Zip Ty Racing bike Was raced by the Zip Ty Team in 2010 and I purchased it in 2011. The Spark arrestor tabs had been reinforced. Since 2011 I have won 1 AMa National # 1 plate and 2 # 2 plates and now 2 # 3 plates and the sub frame is still perfect . I have also used the bike to pre run King of the Moto 3 times So it has been rode hard with no problems

After the second time my Husky's muffler mounts broke I gave the subframe to a fabricator. He removed the stock tabs and welded on some heavy gauge aluminum instead. Never had a problem after that.

I just use a couple plastic black tie wraps around the cross member of swingarm. It keeps the mudflap off the swingarm and doubles up as a wear surface.
Thank you for the tip. I checked and noticed that the swingarm on my tortured 250 started wearing
