  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc WR125 lighting-BD SQUADRON PRO LED light upgrade

omnivore

Husqvarna
B Class
I am unhappy with the light output on my 2009 WR125 for night riding and have also entered an upcoming 24 hr enduro.
I am considering the Baja Designs Squadron Pro led light which draws 42 watts apparently.
Can the stator on my WR support this light?
Has anyone tried this upgrade yet?

i went another route, i was searching for a better headlight i came across the Husky WRE 125 headlight wich looks identical to the stock headlight but uses a H4 Bulb- maybe worth a try?

If it has the same output as the WR300, than yes it can. Check the service manuals, I believe they list the max output of the stator.

H4 bulbs draw more current than LEDs and the output sucks. Upgrade to LED if you can afford it. I have the Baja Designs Sport, which is 2 LEDs unlike the 4 LED one OMNIVORE above is looking at, It draws 22 amps and Blows any H4 bulb away, even HID swapped H4s.

I've done a couple of 24Hr races with a $30 72W light bar from Amazon with a rectifer. WR250 though

Yes. And with some minor fab work it will fit in the stock mask too.

Action shot since I don't seem to have a pic just showing the light.

Awesome.
From what i can tell the stator may put out 100+watts.
However I am told that the BD kit requires DC current...and since i have no battery or elec start, I have to figure out a way to install a battery and wire up a way to make it all happen.
Any help.would be appreciated.

I think Baja Designs is making a light that runs on AC power as well now too. That would make it even easier for our bikes.

The workshop manual would suggest 300w.

Checking generator stator windings resistance (WR)
The generator consists of a 12 V alternator with a power of 300 W at 10.000
rpm, positioned inside engine left side cover.

The factory headlight bulb is a 35w/35w plus a 5w parking bulb for reference.

I didn't mess with the stator at all and I have my bike wired with a trail tech reg/rec and a small Shorai. I like my lights to work even if I stall out :D

It gets tight in the airbox though. If I did it again I'd probably find an even smaller battery.
