  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Cool. You have plates for that? If so I don't think pot holes will give you any trouble.

Hi John! I guess you mean registration plates. Yes i have. Took a ride to the city this weekend, but it´s a bit slippery as it´s a lot of melting water from all snow and sand on the roads so you have to be careful with cut slicks at the rear. Works fine otherwise!

I gotta hand it to ya Johnny-O,...you really know how to enjoy that scoot and get the most out of it, don't ya?

Ice racer in winter, street fighter in spring,.....have you checked on a mowing deck for it so you can mow lawns with it this summer?
Should be good at digging rows to plant corn and beans too I would think. :D

I have been thinking about how my 610 SM wheels would fit up. Of course, the chain is on the wrong side....

My wheels came from a Yamaha with the drive on the opposite side, but i just turned the wheel around. I also made new spacers for the rims to align them right in the swingarm and fork. the most important thing is to measure the distance between the brakedisc and the sprocket to be sure that discs and chain aligns. my rear rim was 2mm wider there, but the floating caliper took care of that. This distance is 150mm on the WR 300.

Haha! Yeah, i will contact the farmers around and see if they need any help! It´s perfect now: Icetyres on standard Excel rims, one set of studded Enduro wheels on another set of Excel wheels and the Motardwheels with cut slicks. Everything ready with discs and prockets to go on at any time with chains to fit the gearing. I´m very pleased with the usability of my bike!

thanks, now i want one, even more...... great.

is that seat stock or shaved?

Just go for it my friend! The seat is shaved 1 inch and made like a stepseat. I also put a thin layer of soft foam in for "comfort":D..

ooo johnny it will be much much cheaper fer me if i just ride yours!

the seat looks good and thats key to a nice job and getting some shape back into it is using less dense foam in spots to fill/make a rounder shape etc helps with comfort too... i want to do mine esp after seeing the factory lowered seat but ive done so many im burned out but the 125 seat looks super simple to restaple so i may just tear into it yet!

oh- almost forgot how did you mount the front caliper etc? is it stock or do you have a bracket or are there spacers between the disc and hub or ???

When i did my seat i first used a razorbladed knife and after that i used a rough sandingpaper to get it like i wanted. At last a layer of 5mm slightly softer foam. I use my standard caliper. No mods there as i didn,t want to mess with all brakeparts. I have a 320mm motard disc, but it,s 5mm thick so it almost touch the caliperbracket. maybe i´ll get a bracket if i can find one, but i think the brakes are ok for my streetdriving. I think you need a WR 300 now! If i say that we will go to the gokart tracks and race in the summer, will that make you want a WR 300 even more or not? You have a long way to travel but you´re welcome for a ride! Choose your own version of bike! Enduro, Motard or Iceracing!

Mmm, goodiegoodie! Looks relly nice! I´m testing different jettings now as i use very small throttleopenings on the street. I have ordered the standard USA needle now (6BFY43-74) and what i have read out of the needlenumbers it should be leaner at very little throttle, so that will be intresting to try out! The GAY needle that came with my full power kit is way too rich at very light throttle. You never stop learning about 2-stroke jetting!
