  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc WR 300 wheels and hubs

Huskybloke

Husqvarna
AA Class
So I had a mishap with the rear wheel and the hub is lets say non fixable so where can I get wheels and hubs in aftermarket form as I am looking at replacing both front and back some other colour ?

First little idea: you can have your front hub powder coated or anodized to match probably cheaper than replacing.

wrecked.JPG well you see I got new bolts for the new sprocket and the had threadlock on them and I was silly enough to think that was good enough on there own and never checked them .

OK now I have confessed , you cant see it but 2 lugs have snapped off so now im just thinking of going Talon etc

Ouch! Well that should have been good enough. I've changed a few rear sprockets and haven't ever even lost a bolt or nut. I'm going to check mine tomorrow though

Shit that's no good mate. No other damage? Do a search on here I think the older 4t hubs worked with a bit of machining of bolt faces(5mm). Warp 9 used to do them too. JDK wreckers maybe worth a try for a hub if new is too exy.

I guess being RHS drive bit more prone to cumin loose. I remember wen I bought my 300 a bloke had dun the same thing as you. Mechanic stressed to check em all the time

I'm not sure this is true for the 2 strokes, but my italian husky's sprocket bolts are about 1mm (maybe 2) longer than the rest of the worlds. not a huge problem... but on the shorter aftermarket bolts I used, I had to discard the washers so that the self-locking nuts would grab the last thread (barely).

IIRC, they came pre-treated with thread locking compound. wait- shit.... or did they??

so am I looking for a Husqvarna wr300 specific hub or is there aftermarket that fit other models as well thinking of going anodised

chainguide is buggered but that's it could have been worse I come off the big tabletop landed and it just locked up was lucky to keep it upright as you can see it happened at a fair rate of knots

Last time I spoke to Stefan at R&D Husky, he had a factory hub in stock, wasn't to expensive either. I can't find email to give exact price, but as with everything he does, it was pretty good.

Talon make aftermarket hub, but wont lace to factory rim, need full wheel at about $960/wheel last I checked.

Warp9 do a hub to suit, but not sure if will lace to factory rim, or need full wheelset also. They make decent wheels but and would be quite a bit cheaper.

No idea. I had to go back through the emails, this was for my last WR250 (MY08). I was talking to Mick from John Titman Racing, the distributor for Talon in Aus. This is his reply;

"Hi Rob, we do have hubs for the earlier narrow Husky. These hubs wont lace into your standard rim you will need to purchase a complete wheel. Talon hubs use a different lace pattern to oem wheels. A complete rear wheel will retail for $845.00 and are available through your local bike shop."

Just found the email from Stefan too, was back in June. He had a new rear hub, "Special price of $250".
