  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc WR 300 idle adjustment

Hi all,

Sorry for stupid question, but how do you adjust idle on mukini? Is it that Philips screw closer to air box? Should the nut be loosened prior to messing with it?

I have recluse, so good idle is super important and mine seems rather high. And it seems to take some time for revs to drop down for idle to settle. Other than that, bike runs fine and starts ok.

Thanks!

One more thing, previous owner told me that bike was jeted for VP C 9 gas. I run regular 93 pump.

Yes, you've got the right idea. Loosen the jam nut and then adjust with a Philips. FYI, you can eliminate that dopey set up and install a new idle screw from Stealth racing. Then you can adjust the idle with a gloved hand, no tools required.

Given the difference in fuel, I'd pull the carb (or just rotate it in the boot) and see what jets are in there. If they are whacky, we can offer some recommendations.

whacky you mean not standard? and we are interested in Pilot jet only, right?

goal is to have bike settle in to low stable idle quick.

I tried to find the stealth racing website but only found car and bicycle sites. Do you have a link?

FYI, these all turn up on the first page of a google search for "Stealth Racing Mikuni Idle Screw". ;)

If the bike is jetted for race fuel, it's possible that all the jets (including needle and clip) are different than what you would run on pump gas. For the long term health of your motor, you probably ought to check them all.

You are right. It's simple enough to do.

I am a bit cautious as bike runs and starts fine now :) and has very mellow response, which is good for newbie like me.

Original owner did give me few spare jets
