  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc WR 300 Bottom Triple Clamp

Husqvarna
B Class
Finally managed to wash my bike after stacking it 5 weeks ago, and fracturing L1 vertabrae, and popping a couple of ribs.
As I had a bit of a look, I noticed this.

Anyone now of any aftermarket bottom triple clamps, or even a full set that will fit the 50mm 'Zokes?
Cheers
Rob

My mates WR360 was like that and he had to mill it down and tapped a high tensile bolt with a nylon cover...get it fixed asap as you will crush a radiator if the bike falls harshly on that side.

Ohmy, I'm not going to ride it until I get a new clamp, Not really sure on drilling and tapping my clamp, as it may weaken it.

Camstyn, I like the Xtrig one, looks horn. Can't find any prices though

I have emailed BRP to see if the have the set for the 50mm Zokes.
Only 30 bucks dearer for the 2, than for the OEM lower!

OEM prices are really expensive, I always check for alternatives. BRP clamps will look great as well, worth the $30 extra. you didn't damage anything else on your bike? sounds like you came off worse than your bike, nasty injuries, hope you heal well.

If you tap a course thread M5 through the stop and a nyloc underneath, you won't weaken the lower bracket as thats a big lump of casting. The trick is to have a rubber washer to absorb some of the shock - worst thing it will do is snap the head of off the allen head?

Also, you could tap an M5 into that lug (but not all the way through) and have a welder run an aluminum weld around it?

This happened to my 09 wr250. Very poor design imo.

I was going to tap bolts in as well but i went for the easy option of just tacking on another piece of steel onto the standard steering stop to bring the height down. I could do this because my steering stops still has enough alloy on them. Had a few stacks since and so far so good.

That kind of thing happens on street bikes also. I have a picture below of what I did to my 1998 wr 125 for a fork swap. You would have to decide for yourself if the clamps have enough material to keep from punching through and damaging the fork. I think for my 1998 which had conventional forks and a lower clamp which went up for more travel and wasn't straight across like the modern stuff the type of stop which breaks is really the only realistic option.

Thanks for all the info. Much appreciated. That Fast by Ferraci, have some for my forks for 260US, not sure what postage will be but.
I recieved an email from BRP, and they only do a top triple, so that is no good.
I may just tap a bolt through it for now till I get some spare funds.

This is my stack anyway, I was just tooling around as I hadn't ridden for a few months.

**** mate that's got to hurt**************************************** Where abouts in Melbourne are ya (I'm Sydenham way)?

Sure do mate, up at Cobaw as well and regularly at Dissa/Tallarook/Kinglake....big river to Tanjil is nice but it's a fair hike for me for a day trip - then again so is Anglesea.
