• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

been considering and wanting a husky for awhile and can't decide between the 2.majority of riding consists of tight single tack and playing on some long steep hill climbs:D current ride 08 yz450f set-up for the woods with a rekluse...fun,but does tend to wear you out pretty quick and can't maintain race pace for too long.ride before that was a 06 yz 250 se-up for woods,fww.....usual stuff,great bike and bulletproof,but never could get the hard mx hit out of it.sooooo.....had a husky back in the day and wanna get another one ,but just not real sure which one to get:excuseme:thanks in advance and can't wait

The best advice I can give you is try to find someone in your area that would be willing to give you a test ride on one. Both bikes are very good but you need to ride them to be sure. I assume you are talking about a TXC 450 or 510. Is there any members on here from your area. Are you planning on being at any of the GNCC's or big races in your area? Maybe someone on here who has one can offer you a ride on there bike after the race. Just a thought.
 
Just do not ride a Husky 125 because if you do all other bikes will be off your list

I have a 07 WR250 with a Rekluse that I HS race. It doesn't hit as hard as an enduroized YZ (those are popular around here too), but it still runs hard and has the two stroke snap. Rekluse helps, but you need to be good shape, to keep up race pace for over two hours. You can lug the bike around just fine, but when it's on the pipe...hang on.

I also have a Honda 250X. Love this bike and I prefer it, for longer races and enduros. Just doesn't wear me out as fast and I go just as fast on it, in the long run.

So maybe the TXC for you? Two stroke sure is nice, not too have to worry about all those extra parts.
 
U wanna be a bad a$$, get the 2t and pin it ... wanna go fast and safe ... get the 4t ;)

Don't forget to weigh in maintenance costs also ....
 
Do yourself a favour and get the TE310 - tons of fun and doesnt wear you out. I've owned Husky WR250, Yamaha YZF250 WR450 and now the new TE250. I get many chances of riding the 310, and if I wasn't racing an E1 category, the 310 was my bike for every type of riding. needless to say that reliability if top notch.
 
I rode a TE 310 again the other day and if she lost some of her street legal handlebar weight I would race it in a second. Very nice motor with the settings that are listed on here.
 
still torn......i can get a new wr250 for mid 4's,kearney's 09 practice wr300 for mid 3's or a virtually new 09 250txc for high 3's.the new one is a smoking deal,but if i buy it i'm afraid the stock susp is going to beat me to death and there's another 500 bucks to get it done.again my primary riding is pretty tight single track kinda stuff:excuseme:
 
I've got an 07 WR250 and run stock suspension. I've changed front springs, oil weight and have played with the clickers considereable, but I'm happy how everything is working now. I'm 185lb and a slow A rider. We race mostly tight singletrack too.
 
I can answer this on real quick on my first post. TXC****************************************!! The Yamaha doesnt have near the power that the Husky has. I rode one a month ago and was not impressed. It had no power down low. It also seemed really small to me. You can most likely buy a used yz f cheaper but remeber you get what you pay for.
 
Well I kind of jumped the gun on my reply. I for some reason read it that you wanted a YZ. I still think the 4stroke is better in the woods. The WR is a fun machine but is a little tiring to ride in the tight stuff.
