• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

wr 125 sieze up :s

BaLLy

Husqvarna
was taking my husky wr 125 for its mot Not hammering it and in 6th gear all of a sudden made horible noise and was struggling to stay running.

Anyway took the head off and the piston/barrel look in good condition, the piston was new and has only done around 20 miles

NO scores or anything also the kickstart had siezed when i pushed it back in gear it unsiezed .

could this be bottom end bearings ?

all info greatly apreciated

Need ALOT more info to provide any help. Year of bike, APP hours on engine. Previous trouble. Gas Oil ratio. Jetting.............AND the list GOES ON. What I can tell you. I jet my bikes a TISH fat. I run a slightly richer main jet then I need to. That ways when I come to a railroad flat and I'm behind I can hold my bike (MANY HUSKY 125's) WFO for as long as I want. Nothing can replicate the sound of and angry smallbore that has been run so hard you know if it was a KTM it would have exploaded LONG AGO!! How about your air filter and maintenance????????? The Husky 125 when properly taken care of and maintained and jetted for temperature is one of the most bullet proof engines EVER made.. I'm sure it is more then likely something you did or didn't do. I live with rednecks who don't even know why or where their air filter is so I'm sure they could mess up even a Husky 125********************************************************************************!! Give some more detail so we can help****************************************

I'm not sure mains or the big end bearings can be bad and come back to life ... You should hear some knocking from the bottom of the engine at most RPMs if these bearings are going bad ...

Does the oil filter or oil plug show any metal shavings?

I've seen crank bearings do that. They lock up, then free up and seem ok, but they are locking up for a reason, and it's usually a broken cage, or missing or damaged balls.

These bearings gotta be checked more thoroughly then ... Maybe you gotta pull off the barrel to get a good feel of the play in the crank from all sides ...

Im going to replace the main Bearings. its just hard to get some in the uk.

im taking the engine out today so will put pics up.

Does anyone no of anyone breaking a wr 125 or cr 125, thinking about buying new engine to use whilst i Rebuild this one.

The aprroximate amount of use of the engine is around 30 miles if that. when i got the bike it had no piston so i bought one for it.

Im NOT a noob who does'nt no how to look after an engine, The bike is set up correct as its all stock. The air filter is in very good clean condition. I had enough oil (i put extra in if anything). If it isnt the main bearings im guessing either piston ring or piston is chipped. Which if its that then i could'nt even explain how thats happend, because i was in low rev range and in 6th gear. I could understand if i missed a gear and over revved it in neutral.
But that is not the case here.

All help is apreciated.

seems that crank has gone, the conrod turns a little bit then jams up. guessing thats the problem.

Cant find any cranks for it tho in the uk , there either rusty or full of dirt.

I would pull the jug off and turn the engine over and see what you come up with. I have seen a few failures. Seen a husky 250 sheer off the flywheel key from stalling the engine. Seen piston skirts break off from failing to replace piston. Seen main bearings go out on a 96 because a redneck left his bike outside under the eves of his roof where it rained so much and was then left outside for the winter (rust I presume) pull your ignition cover to and grab the flywheel and lift up and down and check for play. Pull the jug ASAP. Hope you get er back together and good to go!! These are one tough and I mean tough engine just ask Fred Hoses

Thanks ive alreaddy had to replace wudroof key once, and buying conrod kit today so should be running by tuesday
