  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc WR 125 Questions

ive got a choice on 2 wr 125's that i can go pick up. on is a new 2009 and the other a used 2007.

im going with whichever one is more reliable. i heard husky did a complete remake of the bike in 2009 so which one is going to be the best choice as far as reliability is concerned?

Im sorry for all the posts. i just need to jump on this soon as far a buying it and it just seems hard to find a lot of husky info.

Regardless i answered my question through a search and found the difference. I believe someone here had one of the bad 09 powervalves? How would i know if a bad one was in this 2009. Also do the lights come with the bike but just not installed when purchased new?

Thank you all for the help

Get the 09 . I got an 08 but kick myself - 09 worth getting if you want to keep it for a while
Should have lights on it . Power valves should be already updated by owner or shop.
Refer to sticky re wr125s for info.
all husky 125s are very reliable

I agree with the rockdancer guy, unless the 07 is free get the 09, The 09 has the new generation frame/plastics/seat which has way better handling and ergo's and I think the engines got a revamp in 08 making them better than the 07. and for $100 you can buy 2010 plastics (with the cool inlaid graphics) and no-one will know you don't have one!!!

Depending on your budget I would go for the 09, new frame technology.
It make take awhile to get it tuned right though. Some of them run great out of the crate, others take a bit of fiddling.

I had 2 04's and now the 09 WR125 and the 09 IMHO is hands down a better bike. Better frame and suspension and same good / proven motor.

Thanks for the info so far. I called and it does come with lights. May pick up 2 of them as well.

I heard things about husky being lite on the grease? is this true on the 09 and newer? If so what all should i be looking at greasing?

I find most bikes need a good re-greasing before riding.

Wheels, Swingarm, Steering stem, linkage?

Yep grease it all. Where in Ohio are you and who is the dealer if you don't mind me asking?

Harold in Berkely Springs? $3500 is a steel, you better jump on it. Plenty of info on here for set up too. You will love the bike. What about Kirk at Motohio in C-bus? I've talked to him a couple of times, good guy.

Yep thats what Harold is letting them go for. I didn't talk to Kirk but someone else. They said they only had a 2010 and maybe they could do 4.5 when they get a 2011 in.

I want a newer trail bike. i have an RM and RMX both i love but the KTM's kill them both. But from what i hear Husky's kill KTM's so im pretty sure i will love it.

You will love the bike once you get the jetting sorted out. My 2006 CR144 was picky on jetting too. I would think that with all of the jetting topics on the CR/WR125 that Husky would pay attention and address this issue. Maybe the 2011 bikes will come with a Keihin carb on them?

If that rumor becomes fact I would consider a new CR150. Too many carb and pv issues on the '09/10 models for my taste.

Actually the PV were just real early 09's the rest are fine. The TMX can work but if you want it better the PWK is only $235

I have ridden the 04 and 08s and own an 09. For me the 09 was worth the extra expense over the 08 but it might come down to size. Being over 6' I even liked the 04 more than the 08, and the 09 the best. The 08 seemed to have a bit tighter ergos.

I'm loving the 09 after a few initial teething issues. I have a 250 and a 500 and all I want to ride anymore is the 125. Personally not being a racer it's all about how much fun I have and after doing back to back rides in a very technical area on my GasGas 250 with a trials tire vs the WR125 with a knobby I found that I simply could not climb the same hils on my 125 as I could on my 250. That sounds like a knock against the 125 but even knowing that I put the 250 up for sale, I just have more fun on my 125 and unless you're a pro racer aren't we all doing this for laughs anyway?
