  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Have you or anyone you know had your speedo fail and had it replaced under warranty.

What were the issues?

My speedo jumped over 1000klm between 1 ride and the next.

The importer states it was tested and is fine!

After an independent test a faulty EPROM was found...

Please post any speedo issues you have ever had with your past and current 2T bikes.

Cheers

MODS: please make this sticky

my speedo filled with water (vapour in screen) on my 2009 WR250
also the kill switch died (rusted). both were replaced under warranty.

mines running fine,2007 wr125 with cr125 engine and stator rewind. The bike gets pressure cleaned after every ride then I CRC everything to help stop dirt sticking next ride.Must be a good one bike also came with a set of hens teeth.

moisture under screen glass, also eats batteries like hell on my wr125 -11, I also think that one of the red leds have burnt... haven't really done anything about it. Though no warranty here, since roadleagal and fullpower...

no LED's working on my 2012 wr250.. what are they even for? I see them light up when the thing boots and thats the last of it.. I also have moisture under the screen already and I've only owned the bike for 2 months or so.

2010 Wr300 bought as demo bike in April 2012. Dealer replaced speedo before I purchased bike as original was faulty. I was told to "not high pressure clean speedo as not real watertight"..
Goodluck stu

Yes, I think I had two rides on mine. Didn't hold mileage etc. the usual issues. I replaced with trail tech and have been totally happy.

2011 XC150.
Speedo worked fine until ~350kms, now counts about 1km for every 5kms travelled. Speedo still reads fine, so its not a sensor problem.

Bike only had a 3 month warranty, so I didn't even try for a warranty claim.

The speedometer on my 07 TE450 always works fine unless the low beam burns out on my headlight. Then nothing appears on the display until I put a new lightbulb in the headlight. Funny wiring on those Italian machines.:excuseme:

Haven't tried hooking up and running the speedo on my 2011 WR300, because too many people have indicated that it is a waste of time and possibly detrimental to my ignition.

no honestly my speedo works fine wr125 2007 model with a cr engine and diy rewound stator.i run brake, tail and headlight but has never had indicators, wonder if the indicator wiring stuffs them up.

+1 on yours stu, anthony 78s & nathans' posts. theyre rubbish. just got me trail tech today. posted previously. lankydougs another. any danger of bmvarna doin something bout this?!(HA HA). cracking thread title stu-funny shit!

Faulty EEPROM on mine - Jumped from 2165 to 2900 on the first test then 2914 on the second test by Guageworks in S.A

My speedo worked fine but my odometer would subtract a few miles when I would stop to rest and sometimes lose mileage on a ride. I permanently fixed it when I hit a tree and wouldn't bother with another even if it was free. (I only rhyme some of the time) :)
