• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

WORCS Glen Helen race report (check in racers)

robertaccio

Husqvarna
Pro Class
no smash up/crash up sensationalism just the race report.
Kenny check in!! Husky T? any other Cafe members?

Our crew member Dax CRF450R (who rarely races now, former A class champ and WORCS Pro) shows up for his 40A race and has respectable run for 4th in class, which incidently is won by Ty Davis on his TC449 Husky.
With a little more physical and bike prep our always fast 40 guy would be right back in the podium mix, good ride DBR!.

I assume there was a restart?

btw, Ty Davis also won the 30+A

I see Cory Graffunder won a race on a Kawi...

looks like Ty finished P2 in 30A as well as his P1 in the 40A race on the TC449 according to the results stats. Not too bad for 40 something former pro guy with bad knees on a wierd bike.

oops, you're right. My bad. :o

I'm always happy to see a Husky, especially when it does well. I'd say this bodes well for a continued Husky/ZipTy relationship, though. I could be reading too much into it, but... who knows?

Looks like Husky NA needs to rethink there west coast effor. With both Nix Burson signing to race for a Kaw team. Then Cory racing the sun race on a borrowed Kaw how does that look for Husky.
At least there old boss showed up to show that a Husky can win.Time for a new plan as the lack of one at least one that we as race fans can see and root for is missing.
There is a National Hare and hound race this comming weeken in Luceren Calif. Wonder who might just show up on a Husky

sorry john but not me and my husky, im sticking solely to enduro type stuff from now on, too beaten down for that Nat H&H ugly stuff!! I love the rests between the specials!!

I like enduros but the rests between the specials drives me crazy, must be my add because I just can not sit there and wait.I like to see a green flag and ride until i see a checker one.No extra thinking needed just ride.At least you can say you did it,now we just need to get a few more Husky riders to come try one.Just like a WORC race just a little longer

Rob,

Was scheduled off of work for Friday ...planned on going to open practice ..... Boss advised at last minute that we were working afterall... so scratch the open practice...

The Softball Gods lined up to curse me on this one on Saturday.... I was lined up to race this in 40 C Saturday at 2:00 P.M. Figured I would be done with 12U Girls softball evals around 11:00 a.m. 132 girls total ...... The league advised that we would have "IMPACT PITCHER " callbacks/tryouts at ... you guessed it 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon with mandatory Manager attendance...

I am now looking at SRA GP at GH in Feb and possible WORCS races in Gorman and Cahuilla...

That Ridgeline is actually a great place that I like to pass on but it looks like they hit it with a Cat , stirred up a whole lot of loose dirt and with no recent rain turned it into a big dustbowl.... maybe a good thing I wasn't there....it looked a whole lot wider and flatter than it normally is...

Rob .. are you going to the Ranch anytime soon? Would like to meet up with you for a ride...

T

No cat or prep on ridgeline, it was rough and dusty Sat am in the 'unclassified' practice. The 510 had bogging issues at Perris a couple weeks ago (after my Cahuila probs too  ) so I took our old '05 RM250

Those crash vids were from a race about an hour before our Senior group...they ran those guys up Yamaha hill onto the ridge right after 1 short mx lap. By the time we started WORCS had it re-set to run us a lap on mx course plus a little of back track and off-road, then up the big hill after a second lap on main mx course. Was sorted out much better, no complaints.

All I have is smash up/sensationalism to report! haha! :p Killer start from the inside into Talladega first turn - edged out some 450's to lead, cleared the table for my first two laps (on mx course anyway) and led Senior C until we got around to EnduroCross section roughly 10+ minutes in. Fell 3 straight laps on the logs...final 3 laps it was a mini-victory to just get over them :oldman:. Went from 1st to 6th to 14th and back to 11th after 1hr8min.

Wore my Garmin bicycle HRM and averaged 185bpm for over an hour, peaked at 195 (after one of my falls and struggles in mud). Physically blew up about the third lap, I think after second fall? Felt I rode great on mx course, super-weak on EnduroCross (tho I learned a lot) and like a wimp in the sandwashes.

That said, enjoyed most of the race, and will try again someday! I've enjoyed my WORCS experiences so far.

kenny k thanks for checking in. now I know why i know you and not just from that day at cahuilla, you are kenny kopecky (yes?), I knew you looked familiar to me.
see,, you did not even name drop yourself!!!
I saw the results and saw you and Suz listed so thats the story. shoot those road race skills must have kicked in on talladega 1 turn!
As for the 510 bog, do the jd jetting thing with the oring on the ap linkage, verify the ap settings (they can be found in keihin fcr specs I forget the setting). These 13:1 comp machines run on premium but like some race gas for better running. just try to keep the fuel in the solid mid to higher 90s range, mine always seemed to run better that way. Will gladly work with you on the 510 issue, can also access ZipTy he has a full carb mod thing for reasonable $.
here man i'll drop your name.

hey we have a Daytona 200 vet in the cafe.

:oldman: just an old mid pack 200 rider dude! :p Starts and 60+ mph into Talladega were the easy part of the course haha!

Did you do some roadrace time over the last 20 or 25 years?

I had part of the JD kit in after Cahuilla, but hadn't done the ap stuff before my Perris day. I think that is where the prob lies, will definatly hit you up after I get a little more done and try 'er out. :) Thanks for the help and guidance!
