    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Women's upper body armor?

Hey folks,

Trying to find a good quality "pressure suit" style for the upper body for my wife. Any leads out there? I know Rockgardn used to make a women's version of the Flakjacket but it's no longer shown as an option. I have beaten the crap out of mine and like the adjustable nature of the armor plates to position them correctly.

Isn't Leatt now making a women's specific Moto Chest protector that integrates with a Leatt Brace? maybe overkill or not the style you are looking for....

I mention this due to the form fitting nature of the Leatt system...( man or woman) not quite a pressure suit but great for 'Body Armor"

I've never had much success with any of the women's-specific gear. Things that are moulded almost never fit right - I guess I'm not busty enough. I'd be sure to buy it from somewhere with an easy return policy in case your wife doesn't fit their mould either. lol

As for types, I know Alpinestars makes one called the Stella.
 
My wife has the Apinestar Stella and really likes it. My friends girlfriend has it also.

The downside is it is expensive.

Ok, well, that's a start. I browsed MC superstore and RM ATV for something but was pretty disappointed with the selection. I believe we did see the Alpinestar version at RMC and did suffer a little sticker shock. That may be the route to take. Have plenty of time, she broke her arm at Tahuya a couple weeks ago;). Thanks for the replies!

Hey LDM, just curious as to which Acerbis you were talking about, thanks.

After trying on several chest protectors, and not finding one that fit well enough, I found a chest protector/hydra pack in one from RockGardn, they are a downhill bicycle protective gear company.

At the time I was shopping for gear, I did try on a few of the bionic suit styles at local motorcyle shops, but all were too small, and price way too much. I ended up with the Rockgardn protector, and separate elbow guards from EVS.

Kali and 661 make really nice protective gear, I know Kali has a chest protector/suit

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! :( I hope she's on the mend and feeling better soon. This sport definitely ain't for sissies :lol: Ask me how I know...

As far as gear goes, the best thing is to go try on as many as she can and then choose from there. It's a difficult task to make female-specific gear, and it all varies so widely.
One brand might have all the features she wants, but won't fit at all. Another might be lacking a key feature (like elbow guards on the Koerta) but will fit great and be comfortable, etc.

If you're not afraid of sticker shock you might want to check out the Forcefield body armor by T-Pro. It was originally designed for road-racers but Eric has a full set of upper-body armor that he wears in the dirt and he loves it. I have a roadracing style back protector and their separate elbow and shoulder pads in my street jacket and they're outstanding. I'm waiting for some knee pads for my street pants right at the moment. You can find good info on it here... http://www.johnsonleather.com/armor_main.htm And here's kind of a funky photo of it. Nice design. I think she'll like this one the best. Looks a little busy to put on but I bet it gets easier after a couple iterations. Their wear instructions use a female as a model, I'm wondering if it's a unisex style due to the adjust-ability? She's 36c so.....

It is infinitely adjustable, what with all the velcro tabs everywhere. And that velcro sticks like it ain't ever coming off!
Once you get it set the way you like it, you just throw it on and go. Eric says it's a tad warm in the summer, but it's great the rest of the time.
I love how my back protector conforms to my body. When I take it off it's like an exact casting of my back, and it stays that way til it cools off and then it goes back to whatever shape it was when I first put it on. Wild! Here's the one and only photo I have of Eric in his gear without his backpack on...

Thanks for pointing out the sale on the roost guard. I couldn't pass up the deal..... I've been blessed (or cursed) with a chest and this looks like it would be good.. I hope it fits under my jersey because I hate getting mud all over and then having to power wash it.
The sale is what sealed the deal for me, and I can use my own elbow pads with it.
