Has anyone come up with a windshield for there terra? Looking to build the adventure machine and have not come across any good options?
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Hi guys
i took a maier windshield
http://www.maier-mfg.com/catalog/typhoon-sport-shield-78-bars
similar to this one , it was off another bike, it was cracked, so i modified it and drilled new mounting holes approx 3/4 inch on each side and then used the blue painters tape and used a dremel and cut the windshield smaller , i shaped it more to fit the bike , i started at the bottom where it forms around the headlight and cut the bottom corners off and shaped it to fit the bike. i'll try to get some pictures posted , its hard to describe , but once done , i had a number of guys tell me they thougt it was a factory option . i have approx 400 miles riding with it on , in the cold here in PA , approx 300 of those miles have been dirt roads , with some 60 plus mph on highway and it has been great. mounts sturdy. and come summer time i just losen 2 bolts and it comes right off , with this windshield i can raise / lower it and angle it for the best air flow. i will try to get pictures of it on tonight , i also made a headlight guard out of another old clear 1250 bandit windshield , as the pictures will show.
Ken,I took my CeeBailey windscreen off because there was just too much air directed at my face. Plus, I was worried a bit about problems if I dropped the bike in the rough. To get proper wind deflection up front it looked to me like the screen was going to get just too tall. I kind of like being in the wind anyway, and my road speeds will be a bit lower than on my previous BMW R1200RT.
I use a dualsport helmet
I believe it was the Baja model.Ken,
Which model did you use? I've been looking for some wind protection and want to see all of my options before settling for an OEM screen.
Any Mods needed? That looks like it would suit my needs pretty well, but I don't want to have to hack something up. Me and clear plastic fab are not on good terms.Ken,

That sort of helmet is on my short list. Unfortunately the only DS models that fit my head were the Shoei, ICON, and Arai variants, and I don't know that I want to drop $400-$600 on a new helmet right now. Perhaps I'll take another trip to find one that isn't several months' payments.Same here. I bought a inexpensive AFX DS helmet when i bought my Terra from Bills. I am really surprised how much i like it. The windshield does distort the view slightly though. I wear sunglasses under and just flip it up for off road. Works great. Just food for thought. Did several 150 plus mile street rides, no issues.

I would love to see one of those on a TR650!I'm thinking I may have to try one of these. I have one on my KLR and it works great. Kinda pricey though.
