  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Will a 93 wxc360 crank work on a 96 wxc250?

Just as the title states. I cannot for the life of me find a crankshaft/connecting rod for my 96 wxc250. The lower connecting rod bearing blew apart and the rod is seized to the crank. I been searching for a few weeks and have only found a 93 wxc360 crankshaft/rod for sale. Does anybody know what parts can be used from the 360 model on a 250 model?

The 360 has a longer stroke so your piston would come out the top. You could put a 360 top end on your motor and then you could use the 360 crank. The transmission and cases are the same on both bikes. A 93 and newer top end should work.

^^That would work for me. I can somewhat find wxc360 parts easier so far.
Can i use my old reed cage and carb? And does anybody know if the power valve linkage is the same? Just would need a wxc360 cylinder, head, top end rebuild kit, crank and rod?

It may require machining to get the crank to fit the cases. You'll have to use a 360 reed cage and manifold, but the carb can be jetted with 360 spec jets.

The engine cases are the same so no machining is required. The bikes use the same main bearings as well.

Well that is good news! Bad news is i cannot find a 360 cylinder/head/reed cage. OR a 250 crank/rod. Whatever one i find first i will continue on the build.

The 360 crank has a much bigger crank wheel diameter than the newer 250, so I wasn't sure.

I have a '93 360 crank, top end with power valve linkage, reed cage and intake manifold from a motor I just robbed the 6 speed from. Just need new main bearings and a piston kit.
