• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

why call it a 511?

If you do decide to get stickers that say 477, you can just head down to the local hardware store and pick up some of those square numbers for a mail box. They last more than a couple years.

I have a 2013 te511, i would like them to be a genuine 511, however these bikes do go just fine. As they are virtually the same price as a 449 here in Australia, I think the 511 is a better option. On saying that both bikes are great bikes. this is my first husky but will be buying more as im impressed with the bike. One of my best mates has a te450 also a great bike, hence the reason i bought my 511.

All I can say is that I am very thankful to look in my garage and see my 08' TE510. The most beautiful piece of eye candy too come from Husqvarna. It's been a couple years since the 449/511 introduction, and I still cannot find it attractive. It's probably a great bike, but when I compare them, it's like looking at a 4 door Porsche. Looks good, but something's just not right with it. Not to hurt anyone's feelings that own one, but they kind of stepped backwards I think. Great design, engineering, but its not a beautiful Husky anymore. Sorry guys!

Using your line of thinking, I should feel like I got something for nothing when my Ducati 1098s engine is actually 1099cc? Or maybe it's just marketing that doesn't change how I feel about that, or if my SM610 is really 610 cc's or not. I like the bikes, thats all that matters. The spec sheet clearly lists the actual capacity..

I think you should send a check in the amount of $2.38 to Ducati for that extra cc.

I like round numbers. 125, 250, 450, 500, 600, 650...all good numbers. Numbers I remember on the sides of bikes when I was a kid in the 70's.

Husqvarna broke the mold with the 410 and the 510. Now 449? 511? Where will it all end?

Oh wait...Yamaha had a 426! Those bastards!

Must be a Euro thing.
My Scorpa 175 is actually 143-cc.
I had the TE310 and now the TE511.
Mix em up all the time when talking about them, 311, 510...
Side stickers came off the 511 when riding (crashing) in the snow.
Was thinking of putting some 310 decals on there, really confuse people - and myself.

Just throwing out my own opinion. I have a 2009 TE 510 and I absolutely love it, and just to pull a comparison to my buddy who just bought a brand new 2012 KTM 500exc I can honestly say ill take my husky any day. The set up for everything from the power up mod was so simple on my husky. His 500exc back fires all the time because he hasn't taken the time to do the proper modification. I also enjoy the fact that a husky stock gearing is already set up for the trail riding but I can also cruise at 65 down the highway without a struggle. No matter what bike you look at they will all have their problems, your best bet is to try what's the most comfortable for you and then do your own custom work and personalization. No bike is going to come right from the dealer ready for use unless you buy a Beta and do their personalization upgrade, but where's the fun in not bolting on and ripping apart your own motorcycle and the satisfaction of saying, yeah I put that on, and not comparing the differences from riding it from the previous setup?
