  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Seems to be a few pipes around for the smaller and older 2 strokes but havent managed to find any for the 09 WR300.

Pro Circuit has a Platinum 2 available for the 300 but you must use their silencer with it. Glenn Kearney was running a PC pipe on his 300 during the 2009 GNCC race season and the PC P2 pipe is the result of that racing experience.

Another option would be a 2010 Husky pipe. I understand Husky redesigned the 2010 pipe for better power across the range versus the '09 pipe.

Will check the price on the pC pipe. Tho wouldnt the factory pipes be restricted even if the 10 is better than the 09? My 09 cam with a non restricted factory pipe but she has developed a rattle after a knock :confused:

The '09 pipes were garbage in terms of build quality. Mine had lots of little pinhole leaks at welds. If I understand correctly, the 2010 pipe dimensions were redesigned to work better with the 300 motor. Also, the 2010 pipe materials and weld specs were upgraded to provide a more robust build quality. As far as restictions in the pipe, I'm not aware of any issues with the '09 or '10 pipes.
 
I have the pro circuit pipe and love it. It's 10x more durable than the 09' OEM pipe and makes big power if you take the time to jet it. It seems to like a lean needle.
 
My local dealer gave me a price of 380USD for the stock 2010 header pipe (without silencer)
WTF! I can get the complete PC titanium pip for that or less :S
 
I got the pc pipe and silencer for $360 from a local shop. It is the newer version of the platinum 2 series for Husky.

It's been a while, but I remember the OEM pipe and silencer feeling a little more free flowing and top end orientated. The pc system does rip on top, but I think it does sacrifice some top end in exchange for bottom and mid. Dont get me wrong though... it is still scary at full boil, but it seems to build up to full boil a little slower and has more meat in the mid.

The build quality and sound are excellent. Raspy and exotic sounding.
This was the 1st pro circuit exhaust I've ever bought and I've been impressed.
 
You should look into the Scalvini pipes, just rode my 300 with there silencer on, feels like it picked up a little more bottom and a slight more on top. For you they probably about the same price wise when you factor in the shipping , and sure look alot better

thats how "works cone pipes" are done and some love the look. Strength is not an issue and usually are much stronger than stamped as they have weld beads around them in many places fortifying them.

Interesting, I thought it would have been weaker and heavier with all those welds. I think for ease of maintenance I might go PC instead if the dealer wont lower his price ;)
 
Sandgroper the Scalvini or something like it might work better, top end ,wide open riding. I think the FMF and the pro circuit are more of a woods pipe.

How much did the Scalvini pipe cost? If my Euro calculations are correct, it looks like the pipe alone would be in the mid $400's.
 
That sounds about right, more than a pc or fmf , but from a performance stand point those are both a step back from stock. FYI look up the new Fanatics , gas gas motors with what looks a lot like a Scalvini pipe.

Yikes! :eek: That's a bit rich for my wallet. Those pipes do look killer though.
