  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Who has replaced their handlebar?

And what did you use? I'm looking for a replacement bar with more height in the bend. The stocker is just too low, and since they got bent in a pretty good digger I took last weekend, I'm looking for replacement.

Any recommendations?

I'll be replacing mine with Flexx Bars. I get wicked arm pump and have ridden a few bikes with these and it really helps out!

I have Protaper EVO Windham bend bars- they are taller than the stock ones with similar pullback/sweep- I like them:thumbsup:

Everyone's taste in bends will vary (many like the CR-High bend/ I do not... I get wrist pain from them from prolonged use- I like straighter bars like stock Husky/Ktms)

Thanks!
So, the Windham is higher than our stock bend but not as extreme as CR-High bend, correct?

I have always felt I needed different bars on my previous bikes, but I really like the stock bars on my two Husqvarnas, and I am 6-2. Kind of nice that I can buy a bike and not have to start replacing everything on it.

Thanks!

CR-highs have more pull back- are more /\ than ___.
WIndham's bend is higher than our OEM bars without changing any other measurement- from my assessment. That's what I was trying to get and feel I did.

I am having a Renthal 996 mounted with a Xtrig elastomer bar mount. I am eliminating some bar risers I had on there (not by choice), so a little concerned about being hunched over when standing. If needed, I can machine the old risers or get some new ones from Xtrig. I will report back after I put in some time on the new bars

When trying only to gain height, besides different bars, you can get additional stock risers, or clamp risers (BRP makes them) or you could get a MOTOSPORTZ damper which raises the clamp. When I installed my Motosportz damper I left the stock spacers out and it was about 1/4" higher than stock (with the spacers.) At some point you'd have to get longer cables or reroute... Reroute is the only option for throttle cables because the only option is OEM or custom made.

I'm still running the stock bars but thinking of going to the pro taper factory Suzuki/KTM stock because they have the straightest bend. My old wrists don't take the pullback as well as they used to. Does anyone know what the specs are of the stock bars on an 09 TE510 in comparison to the other bars shown in the protaper chart ?

On my 2012 WR125, I run Pro Taper 7/8 bars (changed mounts to 7/8) CR 80 "mini" HI bars. Seem pretty straight to me and with a quick check show a sweep of 52mm. I ride mostly tight woods and fast firecuts. Also, I have never had an issue with headshake anywhere, even open fast HS. They mount up great, I do not have to cut anything off the ends so I get plenty of room for levers, controls, route sheet holder...... and put on bark busters. With the busters they are 29" end to end. They are also higher than standard bars which are very comfortable for me when standing.......which is 90% of how I ride.

How tall are you? i'm a noob with a TE630, and don't have the money to keep buying parts to try. It would be nice to have a baseline. I'm 6' and ride 70/30 dirt

I'm 5' 11". Just did a 110 mile ride today with 60 of that offroad. They worked great. I believe Motosportz sells 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" risers. The 24mm/1" don't need longer lines or cables. The taller ones may, but I'm not sure.

Thanks, I have been looking at the Rox offset risers, they are designed to raise the bar up 1'' so no cable issues sounds good.

I replaced the stock bars (after I bent them) with Renthal enduro bend bars, cut down to 29". Made for a MUCH more enjoyable ride in the tight stuff.

(MSR hand gaurds, and BRP scotts sub mount all fit without issue)
