    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Sorry if this topic has been beaten to death, but I haven't been able to find much for answers on the differences of each model rekluse clutch. I'm not looking to spend any serious amount of cash, so I'm figuring exp 2.0 or exp 3.0? Some people say that the core model isn't as good, but I can't find any detail on why. I do a lot of tight woods riding with rocky and rooty terrain. Lots of lugging required. The bike is an 04 WR250. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx.
 
For your year I'd go Z START PRO. Light clutch pull and clutch over ride with more adjust ability.
 
Last time I checked, the Z-start pro was discontinued for the wr 250/300. The only one that was still available was the just the EXP disc and not the core set up. After saying that, if you can find one, go with the Z-start. After having both a Z-start in a WR250 and a Core EXP in a TXC310 (it is the 2.0 though). I felt the Z-start worked much better and fewer problems.

I ride tight single track in MO, alot of big rock, and logs. I have the exp 3.0 in my 300 and it works fine! It's inexpensive, easy to install, and no internal adjustments. The only down side to the exp 3.0 is the stiffer clutch pull and I rarely use the clutch lever anymore!
 
Ok. Thanx guys. I think the Z-start would be awesome, but unfortunately too expensive for me at the moment. I think the exp series looks like the best route. Would I be able to use the stock clutch cover with the exp 2.0 or 3.0?

I have one which came on my 125 and it starts easier in gear no clutch Just ride off
Do these things help with lugging as it seems to have more bottom end ?
If the bike stalls though you can't just bump start it down the hill. so need to stop and kick . I think my idle speed was too low
The clutch on 125 is 30 percent stiffer and no free play
I am liking it so far
Doesn't seem to affect power and can flick clutch to light her up

Its the EXP 3.0, which I believe is all that's available as of now. Super easy install. Clutch pull is very stiff with the included springs but I did a 55 mile ride that was mostly single track and rock hopping (see McCain Valley, Ca) and I never needed to pull it. Only time I did was out of habit. You can easily start bike in gear and I mostly used 2nd gear, so Im going to gear the bike back up now. Pulls hard in all gears, hard to keep front end down through 4th. HANDS down the best mod I have ever installed on a dirtbike. Made me not think twice about forgoing an electric start Te300 for more than twice the price
 
I installed an EXP 3.0 in April of this year in my '11 wr300 because that's all the Rekluse web site said was available. After a few long trail rides and a 60 mile enduro I sent it back as I did not like the significant increase in clutch pull resistance because I still use the clutch to meter power and need to be able to easily pull it in. When I was talking to them about returning it they told me they were making the Z-Start Pro (ZSP) again for my bike but that their website did not state so, so I bought it. Love it, and the clutch pull is easier than stock. Starts in gear w/out issue. It's also much more tunable than the 3.0. Definitely worth the $200 extra over the 3.0 for me. If you only trail ride and don't use the clutch much than the 3.0 will work fine, but if you ride aggressively, race and use the clutch a lot then go w/the ZSP. For the 3.0, the stiffer springs are required to compensate for the loss of friction surface when the 3 or 4 friction plates are removed to install the 3.0 disk, which is the reason for the much heavier clutch pull.
 
@Brian..were you running the stock cable? I use a terminator cable and rerouted it.I still use the clutch just like you and clutch pull is pretty good.Keeping it well lubed is key also.

How bad is clutch pull if say you had a magura hyralic clutch? I bought a used one from another user so my clutch pull is nothing now. I don't race or ride aggressively BUT I grew up racing mx and am constantly on the clutch. I'd like to get the rekluse but am cheap and wanted the $400 one.
 
Glenn, I've been using a Motion Pro terminator cable for a couple of years and keep it well lubed and is routed like the stock cable. It was on w/the 3.0 and the ZSP.

Firecrotch, I can't see a hydraulic clutch significantly easing the pull w/the 3.0 over a cable, even a terminator. The springs that come w/the 3.0 are much stiffer than stock, which is the reason for the increased tension felt at the lever. W/the ZSP, clutch actuation is easier than any hydraulic clutch I've ever used (which isn't many to be honest), but the ZSP is also an entirely different clutch.
 
Glenn, I don't see why not. I don't believe there are significant differences between the 2.0 and 3.0 that would preclude that set up. I'm sure someone on here has that setup. What say you 3.0ers w/hydro clutches?
 
I have a EXP 2.0 on my Husaberg TE250 with a Brembo Hydraulic Clutch and unfortunately clutch pull is definitely harder than stock.
