• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Which Red Bike for DS Trip?

I have an 08 te510 and a 2000 DRZ400. When I go on longer dualsport trips that are not too technical, I take the DRZ. It is geared up slightly and will do 70 comfortably on the highway with minimal vibration. The DRZ gets 200 miles on the Clark 3.9 gal. tank. I also don't mind going 1000 miles without servicing the DRZ. The DRZ is my tool of choice for longer rides.

The Husky is my toy of choice for technical or fast desert rides. But I don't want to go 1000 miles without servicing it.:) Ken

Proeasy is not the only Husky owner to experience a problem on this ride.

On day three at the next fuel stop after Proeasy's bike quit, my TE510 had no more magic button for starting. The kicker worked very well after I turned the idle up to 1800. Usually I run it low at 1500/1550 and could not get it started with the kicker.

I posted this thread looking for advise from you knowledgeable owners.

sorry about the hyjack...

I love the XR400, had a couple of em. But really the magic button is the way to go. Those XR's can be hard to start, especially cold in the morning.

Bite the bullet and put an IMS tank on it and you will be a happy camper.

On those big organized rides there is plenty of start and stop, and again having the button is a big deal.

Im a upper by birth.

Greetings: Took your advice and took my 08 TE-510 on the 1100 Mile Cannon Trek IV with 17 other riders through the bowels of the UP. (47 degrees, Rain and 25 mph winds)

Well, the Husky made it two and half days before the "reliabilty of the FI" on the new bike took a shit, luckily at a gas stop 3 hours from base camp.

For shits and grins decided to put the XR-400 on the trailer when I left Detroit. Glad I did. The XR allowed me to finish.

When I turn the key on I do not hear the fuel pump cycel and get a flashing nuetral light, 3 short and a long?

Ideas?

So... what was wrong?
