    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Well, I got over a year on my repaired left radiator. About three rides ago, I began to smell that maple syrup smell that I dread so much, so after the last ride I was doing maintenance and decided to quit being in denial and check out the source of the smell. I expected it to be coming from the repaired left radiator, but no....the right radiator had a crack in it and was puffing a little jet of green right into the lower frame mount from that first inside row.:censored:

So off to the dealer I went and ordered up a new Alexon radiator. Glad that it isn't too expensive, but I sure wish that my cooling system would quit cracking up. Some people with TE's never seem to have their radiators fail and some seem to have reoccurring problems. I seem to have fallen into that latter category.:doh:
 
The Alexon radiator goes for 112.00 retail. I took my other radiator to a local shop for 75 bucks and they had to weld it twice to stop it from leaking. Not a big enough difference in the cost of repair and buying new for me.

At the risk of jinxing myself, I'll jump in the front of the line with my 08 TE 250/310.
I put Kelly's Rad guards on from the get-go and with over 3,000 miles in our rocky PA terrain, no damage or leaks. "Course, now that I post this I'll probably go home tonight and find a puddle under it:confused:

I haven't hit or damaged my radiator. They just crack from vibration.
 
No cracks yet, but did notice that the cross-over tube tube is dryrotted. Off to NAPA for some new tube and clamps...OEM are one use only=stupid. :censored:

Get the tubing rated for fuel injection.:thumbsup:
 
i think i read somewhere here there was one particular make of rad that was prone to some leakage issues...

hope yer steed stops peeing on the trail soon, and for good!

PVduke is absolutely correct, the alexon radiator is the problem ****************************************! Cancel the order as quick as you can ****************************************! Have your dealer order the Toyo radiator instead ****************************************! Husqvarna only used the alexon radiators in 2007 for a reason, they suck, they are prone to heat and vibration from the 4 strokes. Husky used the toyo radiators 2004-2006 and 2008-2010 on the 250/310/450/510, you can simply order a radiator for one of those years. The mounting is the same and everything bolts right up. You can PM me if you want more info, we stock the toyo radiators to replace the failed alexons from the 2007 huskys. The toyo will cost about 20.00 more but it is well worth it. :busted::thumbsup::cheers:

Is there any truth to the rumour that SM radiators have a thicker sidewall than the TE ones? Doesn't make sense that they'd make 2 different ones, but that's what I heard somewhere.

My 610 is an `07, do I have the gremlin radiators, too? I've never had a problem with them.

The problem radiators were only on the 2007 DOHC 250/450/510. The 610 uses different radiators. :thumbsup:
 
rads

the rads on most bikes are re-welded by the top off-road teams before they race.. you want to ask what rod the shops are using for these repairs if you sent tit to a local weld shop. the specialist have it down already.... it should be 5356. 4043 is too hard and prone to crack on the repairs.... and nothing will make up for a poor designed or fabricated radiator.
 
Well my left hand side Alexon burst about a little over a year ago and was repaired. It has about four inches of unsightly slag on it now, but hasn't leaked again. They don't leak on any welds, but rather just crack in the middle of the channel closest to a mounting point.:censored:
