  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where'd all my clutch oil go..?????

Havnt really been riding the bike since Ive been working alot but I went out in the garage and went to fire up the bike and the clutch had no oil in it. It looks to have seeped out from under the rubber boot that covers the lever pivot.....I think I recall reading about a new plunger that a vendor here sells with some sort of X Ring....any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Brian

I have been having the same problem with the leak running down my handguard. Every time I have checked the fluid it has been fine. had not had to add any for 3-4 months. went riding this weekend, and after 20 minutes of technical riding, lost all clutch fluid, and had a hella of a time getting bike in neutral( had to kill bike and still had troubles getting neutral. never gives any problems shifting with bike off before.
So, stuck on the trail in BFE, I had to put some brake fluid in the clutch to get some feel back to the clutch. Got back to the truck and fluid was gone again. Every bit of fluid is leaking out of the plunger on the master cylinder. If you pull the clutch in with the cover off, you will see air bubbles purging back at you.
I do not believe that this leak is a result of the slave cylinder. I ride mine a couple of miles every day to work and yesterday was my first time I have had any issues with the lever having no input. Like i said, it has been dribbling for a while but the thin fluid goes a long way with almost no apparent fluid loss.

Hopefully some out there has some kind of input. I would like to be able to swing my leg back over the seat soon.

I have had the leak before also. I Noticed a small amount,a few times and figured I need some of this mineral oil clutch fluid.

Paid 19$ and went home to check the level. The resivore seemed as full as it cold be so I closed it up and have havent had any noticeable leakage lately. Sounds like it could be the slave cylinder. I will keep watching this thread to see what you guys decide on.

By the way. How many Miles do u have on your Moto with the leaking clutch fluid?

You might wanna pull the plunger out of the cylinder and check it also ... Mine was leaking some and acting all funny (but always worked out OK) so I ordered the kit ... After the plunger was removed, the seals looked OK but the spring behind the plunger was broken causing the issue ... This spring might can be matched-up and replaced without buying the entire $cylinder kit ....

You'll need a good set of snap-ring pliers for this small job .... Maybe a lighter spring inside there will ease the pull of the lever?

Mine has leaked since new, but has never seemed to lose any oil. Is it possible for engine oil to push back into the line and reservoir --> then out of the plunger seal?

Yea the leaks look alot worst than they really are ... Just a few drops of leakage add up to what appears to be a big leak ..

Not sure on the pressure build up you are asking about ...

All that holds the plunger into the cylinder is a snap ring ... a very strong snap ring ... You might can just pull the plunger and give it a quick look to ensure all is well in there .. Bleeding will most like be required if you check the plunger ...
