  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Please share where you picking up your 144cc pistons, it seems like I have a problem with it...

is it 8000H1135 ?

no pistons available.
my local dealer saying that MAYBE it will be available to order after 21.10.16. for € 134.38
dirtbikebitz.com don't have it
Eric Gorr don't answered at couple days
halls-cycles.com says:I have listed below the two options we currently have available for 144 pistons. Shipping cost is not included.
8000H1135/3 OEM Husky $200.25
8283DA Wossner $199.99
+ shipping - crazy price
husqvarnaworld.com - waiting for price as well

meanwhile wossnerpistons.com told that: The Wossner Part number is 8283DB

The difference between the 8283DA and 8283DB is about .0001" I think. A tenth of a thou is how they usually go anyways just so you can match up to your cylinder - think it was a 'B' that went in mine a couple of weeks ago

purchased my piston for YZ 144cc, and want to ask - is this normal situation with cutting?

The yz design is with a bevel to a raised flat top. That is what you are seeing in the picture. So it looks good to me. You will need to machine your head to accommodate the bevel in the squish band. You will also need to re-chamber the head or your compression will be off the charts. The piston top is raised ~.6mm over the same dimension on the stock husky piston. JFYI

And machining inside piston is ok? looking a little weird...

Yes that is just the cnc work on the casting to remove excess metal, lighten the piston, and balance the piston. The YZ design has a 1mm offset pin that gives a slight advantage on the power stroke.

thank you alot for all your help!

I guess if pistons ever do become a problem, I could make that one work. Deck height with a stock piston is .5mm (with a .5 base gasket). If that one is .6, you could take .1 off the top to make it 0 deck, and open the squish to 1mm. In my experience, the 144 has somewhat low compression and could probably run fine without touching the chamber, other than to blend and bring it back into the 40-50% (of) area

I assumed that measurement was taken from the wrist pin. It would throw off the port timing a bit, but you could also address that with base gaskets, no?

If given the choice, I prefer a zero deck height.

The piston top height is .6mm higher than the stock husky measured from the wrist pin hole. So it is a bit more involved.

I was reminded of this when I read the poster's review of this installation. By being a bit more involved, what exactly do you mean?

Here is husky 125cc piston left, and yz144 on the right. You can see that yz has not flat bottom of the piston, like 125cc husky do.

It is higher 0.6mm then husky. AND it has individual shape. It has canted edge from 58mm to ~53-54mm
