  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where did you mount PCV on your te449/511 ?

Min ended up on top of the ECU:

Jason,
Great idea with the fuzes. I see you have the auto tune box with your PCV. Was it easy to set up? i'm about ready to do the same for MY TC449 Powered G450X real soon, like in the next few days. I should have done it along time ago but Medical bills have kept me a little short.
Also did you have to weld a larger threaded bung to use the Propietary PCV O2 sensor included with the PCV and auto tune set up? Did it come with it or did you have to source the threaded bung elsewhere. I have a tig welder and can easily do it. I'm just not sure if it fits directly in the old one on the headpipe.

I believe it comes with it, but you can buy them from DynoJet in stainless or Ti. When you get ready to setup your autotune with your TC, give me a buzz or hopefully I will have released my new map by then. The map still needs work, but I went from disappointed with the new tbi to frighted to hit the throttle too hard.

Tinken I just pulled the trigger on the PCV with the autotune. I run a Leo Vince' pipe and headpipe. Both of my headpipes have the O2 bung on it but is it true the thread size is larger on the PCV O2 sensor. I was just wondering?

I have to weld a FI submerged fuel pump reccessed assembly into the top of a new S/S gas tank into a buddy of mines 70 Hemi Cuda that he is setting up with FI. So I will do this bung if needed at the same time I suppose.

I will definately need some help with the set up. Remember I have the BMW ECU and stock 2 flap TBI. I hope we can come up with something. I've never done anything like this on my own, on a dirt bike as this is the first FI dirt bike I've owned. I will need to run a cable out to my garage I guess. My wireless remote access to my router isn't real trustworthy so I just keep it plugged into it directly. we'll see whan I get it,
Thanks, Timmy

I thought about running a long cable out my window and into my garage but in the end I just found a cheap laptop on ebay.

It's easy to use, just watch the videos posted in my pcv section of my forum. If you still get stuck, I can always remote your desktop on your computer and show you.

Kind of a really poor picture, but just wanted to show Danny my mount. I made several of them, but then decided to follow the contour of the throttle housing because on mine there is a manual choke you can barely see in the photo and it's hard to get your fingers there. I could just water jet some out if more people wanted them. Either way, easy to make.

I have a speedbrain seat I think it actaully has more underside room to fit the both units with some 2" self adhesive Velcro tape right behind the stock ECU on the top of the front of the gas tank, I'll see where it will fit and figure it out when it get's here. Other wise I'll figure something else out to protect it well and keep it out and being exposed to the direct dirt and upcoming rains durig our upcming Monsoon weather hopefully it will fit under the seat. It only takes a Dzus fastener to get at it that way. I'm a fat f#&k at 230lbs so a bit more power would be awesome without doing to much to get it. I don't ride it that hard like I used too since my broken wrist is healed and my shoulder surgery I had soon there after that.

It can handle a little moisture and it has some good plugs. I'd be worried about smashing it, we have a smashed one at the shop and it doesn't work well smashed. I hear you about the power, I'm 6'6 @290 without gear and I ride with two baja champions so it's either wide open or stop.

I'm interested in this new map of yours Tinken :) I have thought about the Auto tune but it's quite pricey and my bike already goes pretty good with your Burson map.

The Autotune was not hard to set up, I do not have very good internet in the shop as it is a ways from the house and has two layers of metal siding so I just make sure I have everything loaded on the laptop before I wander out.

The AT-200 comes with a steel bung and it is a larger thread size (18mm) than the stock O2 bung, I just washed out the stock bung and put the new one in the same spot with the same orientation. Not sure on any orientation issues with a larger O2 sensor on a G450 chassis but I did not think everything through as I had the exhaust off for a while before I put the new bung in the pipe:

So I found / created a problem with my install; I washed out the factory O2 bung and put in the 18mm bung for the Power Commander Autotune O2 sensor in pretty much the same position and orientation as stock which does not allow enough space to install the PC O2 sensor. Any harm in rotating the can upwards to clear the PC O2 sensor or should I be looking to relocate the can straight upwards?

Clearance with can in "normal" position:

This is what I did - they say 4-6 inches off the head for best readings:

I like this location, I wish I would have thought of it (and reading the instructions is not my strong suit)...

My ended up like this:

Big Timmy:

This is what the included bung looks like, you can get a 18mm to 14mm reducer if you ever want / need to run the stock O2 sensor:

Make sure to add anti-seize paste to that thing. I had to cut one off that was hand tightened without the paste.

Can someone please pass on some of the information and experience they gathered during the install and general use of the pcv being pretty damn inexperienced with this level of tinkering myself (only 18 years of age) This is pretty new to me, What is involved in tuning the pcv, Is a dyno completly and utterly necessary for tuning or can I get by without one ? a dyno is out of the question as there are none available in my state, I really want to reap the rewards of the pcv but I have no clue what I would be getting myself into. any help is appreciated

You don't 'need' a dyno to make good gains with the pcv. The tune (air fuel ratio) just will not be perfect, unless you add auto tune. The install is simple, it just plugs in between the stock plugs for the injector, tps, and coil. You could do it yourself no problem, just take your time.
