• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What's your Handlebar length with Damper installed???

MChammer

Husqvarna
AA Class
Since this new Motosportz Damper is my very first one, I figured I could cut my bars down to help me get through the tight trees here in the northeast and not have to worry about getting crossed up as much as if I didn't have the damper.

Last night's hacksaw experience has me down to about 30.5" and it's about the shortest I can go with these stock bars and all the instrument stuff I need to get back on there to keep it street legal. I don't remember what I had my old WR430 down to back in the 80's when I ran enduros, but it was pretty narrow and we didn't have dampers. What are you guys (and gals) cutting them down to ???

I never run more than 29.5" on my modern bikes. I use to run 28.8" on my XR's. I now run the Moose Flex Series Mini bars. No cutting required and are slightly taller. My measurement is for the bars only. Not counting bark busters.

Good point - my bar length is actualy slightly under 30" - my 30.5" measurement is with Moose Racing bark busters.

I cut mine down to 28.75" before the bark busters. I'm riding tight East Coast single track. I almost never get past 3rd gear...

Here is a thought on what length bars should be. Get in a good push-up position and measure the outside distance your hands are, do it a few times and take the average. This is where your most strength is.
